RACQ spokesperson Renee Smith said the Club’s Monthly Fuel Report showed the average price for unleaded in Toowoomba in July was 148.8cpl, the highest since the all-time record was set in October 2018.

“While July’s price in Toowoomba was cheaper than Brisbane’s monthly average, it was unfortunately above the regional Queensland average of 145.6cpl,” Ms Smith said.

“Petrol and diesel prices in regional Queensland are, on average, at their highest level in more than 20 months.

“Roma was again the cheapest place to fill up the tank, with an average price of 139.4cpl, followed by Maryborough and Miles.”

Ms Smith said petrol prices were largely controlled by the rise and fall of oil prices.

“The lag between oil price movements and retail price movements varies around Queensland but is typically two to six weeks,” she said.

“Regardless of what’s impacting fuel prices globally, we all have the power in our hands to save at the bowser by taking advantage of the servos selling fuel cheaper.

“Use the apps and websites available, like RACQ’s Fair Fuel Finder to track down the cheapest deals in your area. This increases competition and ensures you’re filling up for the best possible price.”
