The Courier Mail reported the Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll encouraged people to stay within their village and advised travel to a holiday home was not allowed.

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said Queenslanders should be staying off the roads unless it was essential.

“If you’re caught doing the wrong thing, you could be slapped with a $1344 fine this Easter,” Ms Ritchie said.

“Already, 139 Queenslanders have been issued with infringement notices for not complying with social distancing restrictions.

Ms Ritchie reminded drivers the two person social gathering restriction also applied to personal transport in cars.

“You should only have yourself and one other passenger in a car, or a group of passengers from the same household if you are driving,” she said.

“However, if your passenger requires a carer or support worker they don’t have to be a member of the same household."
