Changed traffic conditions for State of Origin clash in Brisbane
RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said game two would kick off at Lang Park in Milton at 7:50pm but roads would be shut for hours prior to the match.
“Many local streets around the stadium will be closed from around 5:30pm,” Ms Ritchie said.
“While main roads like Upper Roma Street, Roma Street Milton Road, Petrie Terrace, Cribb Street and Caxton Street will be partially closed for around an hour following the match to allow pedestrians to safely make their way into the city or to nearby train stations.
“Coronation Drive and Hale Street will stay open, but re-directional signs will be in place along major routes approaching the stadium, with police on site to help divert traffic and manage pedestrians, particularly those heading to Milton train station.
“There’s also the usual 15-minute parking restrictions in place that apply to the Lang Park Traffic Area on match days, so make sure you don’t get caught out with a parking fine, even if you’re not attending the event.”
Ms Ritchie said public transport was the best way to get to the game.
“There are going to be tens of thousands of people trying to get around Brisbane on Sunday, so the easiest option is to catch public transport,” she said.
“All trains and buses are free for Origin ticket holders from four hours prior to kick off and four hours after the match.
“If you are heading out on Sunday to cheer on the mighty Maroons, please make sure you plan ahead by using a Journey Planner, and if you’re drinking, please arrange a safe way to get home.”
