RACQ President Elizabeth Jameson said the Club had enjoyed the use of the word Royal in its name since 1921 and looked forward to continuing to do so under the reign of King Charles III.

“While we continue to mourn the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, we take comfort in knowing our proud history and association with the Royal family will go on,” she said.

“We warmly acknowledge and share King Charles’ passion for sustainability and the environment as we help our over 1.7 million members transition to a more sustainable future.”

RACQ has carried its Royal prefix for 101 years when King Charles III’s great-grandfather King George V approved its use in 1921 in recognition of the Club’s patriotic efforts during the Great War.

God Save the King.
