RACQ is passionate about helping others during the festive season. Last year, RACQ staff raised $2114.60 to donate to the Starlight Foundation and this year will be donating Christmas presents to the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation at Lady Cilento Hospital. Here are five easy ways you can give back this Christmas.

1. The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal

Make a donation to the Salvos to help Australians who are going through hard times. Your donation will go towards providing shelter for the homeless, gifts for kids, hampers for people struggling to afford basic meals and support to those who have affected by a disaster. Here is how you can make a donation.

2. Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is Australia’s largest and longest-running Christmas gift appeal. To date, the appeal has collected more than eight million gifts – last year alone more than 300,000 gifts were donated. This year, Australians are encouraged to give a practical gift that will help people in need all year round. There are many ways you can donate to the Kmart Wishing Tree appeal, which will run from 12 November to 24 December, 2018.

3. Queensland Police Service Foodbank Drive

One in six people go hungry in Queensland every day. This year the Queensland Police Service (QPS) have teamed up with Foodbank to collect seven tonnes of food for families experiencing hardship at Christmas. Queenslanders are encouraged to donate food to their nearest participating police station which will be distributed to local hunger relief charities and community organisations in each area.

4. RACQ LifeFlight

Make a donation to the to RACQ LifeFlight to help save lives across the state. Over the 2017-2018 financial year, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopters completed 1819 community-based missions throughout Queensland. These missions assisted patients affected by cardiac conditions, motor vehicle and motorcycle accidents, serious illness or infection, respiratory conditions and falls. Donate online or phone 1800 630 014.

5. AWLQ

Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) works with the community to rehome abandoned and stray animals. AWLQ promise to never euthanise a healthy, sociable or treatable animal in their care and this Christmas they are asking for your help to enable them to keep this promise. When you donate you are saving lives. Your donation will ensure that animals will once again find love and happiness – you will give them a second chance and create a brighter future for them this Christmas. The AWLQ Christmas Appeal will run from 3 December.
