‘Tide’ returns for Brisbane River boat tours

Out and About

Museum of Brisbane’s Tides of Brisbane boat tour is back by popular demand for a second voyage this summer.

Guests listen to a guide on the Tides of Brisbane boat tour.

The Tides of Brisbane boat ride sees Museum of Brisbane’s (MoB) skilled tour guides lead you on a fascinating expedition to uncover some of the River City’s best stories and secrets.

Last year, the inaugural MoB Tides of Brisbane boat tour took hundreds of history buffs on a cruise around some of Brisbane’s most interesting sights from Brisbane River.

With a new and improved journey planned for the 2022/23 season, Tides of Brisbane is the perfect way to see our capital city through fresh eyes.

Starting and ending at the City Botanic Gardens, you can learn about the incredible lives of our First Nations people and the cultural importance of the river.

You can also hear about the early colonial impressions of the area, the convict history and early migration stories.

The significance of our historic and contemporary buildings in the city and the part they played in our urban development features in the next part of the trip, followed by the history of the Story Bridge and its significance as an economic boost for the city when it was going through difficult times.

Flood stories are a large part of our river’s history and the tour talks about some of the city’s most remarkable natural disaster tales.

A quick pitstop at the Brisbane Powerhouse will allow guests to stretch their legs.

Interesting insights into the personalities and places linked to the river round out the two-hour excursion.

MoB Director/CEO Renai Grace said It was a privilege to be able to take to the Brisbane River with this second chapter of Tides of Brisbane.

“In addition to the new route, this season will bring fresh perspectives on some of our city’s most iconic landmarks and fascinating stories that were simply too big to cover in the first season,” she said.

All-aboard Brisbane for a two-hour tour that is as entertaining as it is educational.
