Food to the fore during Scenic Rim’s Eat Local Month
The Scenic Rim comes alive during June when it hosts a flavour-packed schedule of events for Eat Local Month.
If you agree that some of the best road trips involve food, then it is a great time for you to visit the Scenic Rim region with Eat Local Month in full swing.
Plan your journey around Eat Local Month’s events at different sub-regions.
These include The Lost World and Beaudesert from 21–23 June and the Winter Harvest Weekend in Kalbar from 28–30 June.

The Winter Harvest Festival is the signature event, where food ambassador chefs join growers, producers and flavour-makers in celebrating where our food comes from.
There will be demonstrations, more than 60 stalls and local shops to wander, tasting and sipping stations to graze, and Moffatt's carrot ice cream; the Scenic Rim produces 600 million carrots a year and is the carrot capital of Australia.
11 reasons to attend the Winter Harvest Festival
- Enjoy Moffatt’s famous carrot ice cream. It’s the only time of year to try this.
- Take part in carrot tossing at Moffat’s Fresh Produce.
- Hear from our Scenic Rim Ambassador chefs Alison Alexander, Josh Lopez and Cameron Matthews at the Homestead Kitchen stage and from producers Kay Tommerup (Tommerup’s Dairy Farm), Paul Martin (Summer Land Camels) and Jaimi Pennell (Forgotten Sound Farm).

- The popular Tommerup’s Dairy Farm is celebrating 150 years of dairy farming in 2024 and will offer its multi-award-winning products plus some very special anniversary creations.

- Recipes and food secrets, held close for generations, will be revealed for the first time just down the road at the Celebration of Lost Culinary Arts.
- The Tractor Pull is back. Can the butchers or the farmers take back the title from newcomers from Canungra Barracks who won last year? It’s a battle of strength, strategy and stamina and a must-see.
- 10. Sip on the signature Winter Harvest Tipple – The Cauldron Kalbar Carrot Cake Cocktail with Christmas Gin. It’s been created by the team at The Cauldron Distillery at Tamborine Mountain just for the event.
