The “Feel the Freedom” campaign was developed by Experience Somerset and Luvya Lockyer, destination brands of Somerset and Lockyer Valley regional councils.

The campaign showcases a five-day self-drive itinerary through the Somerset and Lockyer Valley regions.

The itinerary features unique accommodation, caravan parks, overnight rest areas and an array of unique visitor experiences, driving the message that visitors can choose their own adventure.

Queensland Country Tourism Chief Executive Officer Peter Homan said he was impressed by Somerset and Lockyer Valley regional councils’ collaboration.

“The Somerset and Lockyer Valley regions have some of the most stunning camping and caravanning locations in Queensland, and we are thrilled to support them in their collaboration,” Mr Homan said.

“If you're looking for the ultimate multi-day caravanning holiday, look no further because this one ticks all the boxes.”

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Jason Wendt said experiencing country hospitality and scenic drive routes was a must-do.

“The Somerset and Lockyer Valley regions are renowned for their scenic landscapes, unique attractions and country hospitality,” Cr Wendt said.

“It makes sense to join forces with our neighbours and promote our regions to the lucrative self-drive and caravanning market.”

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan was proud to add the Luvya Lockyer tourism brand to this collaboration.

“Both the Lockyer Valley and Somerset are fast emerging as key destinations for the caravan and campervan traveller,” Cr Milligan said.

“‘Feel the Freedom’ is not just a tagline; it’s an open invitation for travellers to make lifelong memories while exploring Queensland Country’s caravanning cornerstone.

“We know that travellers do not recognise council borders, so offering this joint driving itinerary is a win for visitors.

“We’re excited to be part of this journey and can’t wait for more people to come and see what makes both our regions so special.”
