Qantas Founders Museum

Founded in 1920 in Winton before relocating to Longreach, Qantas is the world’s second-oldest airline. Celebrate the history and evolution of this iconic airline at the Qantas Founders Museum. Step inside historic aircraft, explore immersive exhibits and learn how a tiny outback airline grew into one of the world’s most respected aviation brands. The guided aircraft tours are a highlight, offering rare access to iconic planes like the 747 and 707.

Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame

No visit to Longreach is complete without a trip to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. This award-winning attraction celebrates the people who shaped life on the land — stockmen, drovers, graziers and pioneers. Interactive galleries, artefacts and live Outback Stockman’s Show bring Australia’s bush heritage to life. Thomson River Cruise

Just outside Longreach, the beautiful Thomson River winds its way through the central Queensland Outback. It comes to life each evening, with the colours of the sunset reflecting in the water and is a must do when visiting Longreach. Both Outback Aussie Tours and Outback Pioneers offer sunset cruises with entertainment, storytelling and dinner on the riverbank post cruise.

Silver Tails Rail sunset experience

As the sun sets, you will glide through flood plains and red mulga country aboard a heritage rail motor in this enjoyable rail experience that offers panoramic views with drinks, canapes and live storytelling. It’s a quintessential Longreach moment and a photographer’s dream.

Cobb and Co Coach Experience

Take a journey through Australia’s pioneering past with this action filled Cobb and Co Stagecoach Experience. Operated by Outback Pioneers, the tour is the only place in Australia where you can still experience a full-tilt gallop in a horse-drawn stagecoach. The tour includes an Outback ‘smoko’ morning tea and entertainment at the Old Time Tent Show.

Starlight’s Lookout

Take a short drive from Longreach for the ultimate sunset view at Starlight’s Lookout which offers breathtaking vistas over jump-up country. Note though, walking up Starlight’s Lookout requires suitable footwear and a reasonable level of fitness so be sure to pack appropriate walking shoes.
