Celebrate timeless vehicles and innovative transport at RACQ MotorFest 2026
Save the date and find out what’s on offer at this year’s event.

RACQ’s largest community event, MotorFest, returns in 2026 with a unique celebration of all things motoring, featuring an exhibition of over 500 vehicles.
There’ll be plenty of fun on offer for the whole family with roaming entertainers, children's rides, food stalls, and a showcase of prestige, vintage, unique, and collector vehicles, along with displays of the latest advancements in vehicle and transport technology.
RACQ Events Manager Tamara Van Der Walt said the event at Brisbane Showgrounds on 14 June is always a highlight on the motoring calendar.
“There’s a real buzz around Motorfest each year as thousands of enthusiasts, families and car lovers come together to celebrate all things motoring,” Ms Van Der Walt said.
“We’re excited to host such a wonderful variety of classic and enthusiast cars while showcasing new vehicle technologies in the Future Zone where attendees can also test drive the latest electric vehicles.”
Celebrate 100 years of Mercedes-Benz
Each year, RACQ Motorfest has a feature marque and this year the event celebrates 100 years of Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz was officially founded in 1926, so marks its centenary this year, but its roots go back much further.
In fact, this year marks the 140th anniversary of the creation of the world’s first automobile, the Benz Patent-Motorwagen. Designer Karl Benz filed for a patent on 29 January 1886 under the name “vehicle with gas engine operation.”
In 1926 Karl Benz merged his company Benz & Cie. with that of fellow German automobile pioneer Gottleib Daimler’s Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, to create Daimler-Benz AG, from which the famous Mercedes-Benz brand was born.
RACQ Motoring Editor Ged Bulmer said patent number 37435 is regarded as the birth certificate of the modern automobile.
“The launch of the brand’s initial models signified the establishment of a cohesive automotive identity grounded in collective engineering proficiency,” Mr Bulmer said.
“Over decades, Mercedes-Benz has become synonymous with innovation and prestige.
“Among its many automotive milestones, Mercedes-Benz can lay claim to pioneering the safety crumple zone in 1951, as well as introducing safety technologies such as anti-lock braking systems (ABS), which have since become standard across the industry.”
Explore the Future Zone and test drive an EV
With rising fuel prices, more Queenslanders are making, or considering, the switch to an electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicle.
At this year’s event, visitors can once again test drive various hybrid and electric models in the Future Zone, talk with exhibitors, and learn about EV charging infrastructure and new vehicle technology.
Be sure to head along to the Future Zone early to avoid missing out.
