On 3 May 2025 Australia will vote
Australia’s largest ever federal election will be held on 3 May.
Australians will have their say in shaping our nation’s future.
Over the last nine months, RACQ has run a strong campaign calling for fair funding to ‘fix the Bruce’ Highway. We welcomed the Federal Government and Opposition’s commitment to a $7.2 billion funding package for safety upgrades on the highway between 2025 and 2032 and we also saw an additional commitment from the Queensland Government to provide an additional $1.8 billion for upgrades.
Although this was a great outcome, we remain committed to advocating for more action on other issues that continue to impact the lives of our members and communities across Queensland.
Cost-of-living pressures, increasing frequency and severity of weather events, insurance affordability, home and energy resilience, road infrastructure and transport tax reforms are all important issues for Queensland that we believe need addressing by the next Federal Government.
We are calling for action on five key priority areas:
- Boost Queensland’s national highway maintenance and resilience funding to $500 million over four years
- Significantly increase investment on a range of measures to reduce the impact of severe weather events on high-risk communities and improve insurance affordability
- Expand the Battery Booster scheme and expedite Vehicle to Grid and Vehicle to Home capabilities
- Greater investment in the EV transition and embracing biofuels
- Commitment to transport tax reform to replace fuel excise to ensure fair, sustainable and ongoing funding for critical transport spending
RACQ is dedicated to driving a positive future for all Queenslanders and we remain a strong voice on issues that are important to our members.
