Why does RACQ conduct this research?
RACQ advocates for safe, affordable and sustainable mobility for Queenslanders. This includes lobbying governments for policies and projects across roads, public transport, and active transport.
To identify and lobby for transport outcomes our members need, RACQ uses transport and consumer surveys to understand how, when and why Queenslanders travel. These surveys provide an evidence base for addressing current and future transport issues including:
- Transport affordability
- Service quality, supply, and demand
- Transport disadvantage
- Future mobility trends

Transport and consumer survey reports

Transport Disadvantage Survey 2019This survey explored factors which contribute to transport disadvantage, including cost or financial distress, lack of transport access, mobility impairments or disabilities, and language or cultural barriers. It also identified potential opportunities to mitigate transport disadvantage in Queensland.

Future Mobility Survey 2018
This survey explored how South East Queensland residents travel, including their preferences for existing transport modes and emerging alternative concepts such as vehicle subscription and Mobility as a Service.

Transport Behaviour Survey 2017
This survey examined the transport preferences and travel behaviour of community members in eight local government areas including Brisbane, Logan, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Moreton Bay, Toowoomba, Townsville, and Cairns. There was a focus on commuting and public transport improvements.
