Buying a used car can be a stressful experience for many people, given the significant financial outlay and the inherent risks that come with purchasing a technically complex product that may not have been well maintained.

Now Hyundai Australia is looking to take the stress out of that process with the introduction of its first certified pre-owned program, dubbed Hyundai Promise.

The Korean car maker claims its new initiative offers customers value and peace of mind when purchasing a used Hyundai vehicle.

To be eligible for Hyundai Promise, pre-owned Hyundai vehicles must be under five years old, have travelled less than 120,000km, have a complete Hyundai dealer service history, and pass a digital 118-point inspection by a factory-trained technician.

The vehicle must also have two keys and pass a system check using a digital pre-delivery inspection.

Suitable vehicles that are classified as Hyundai Promise Certified vehicles come with an extra year of factory warranty and Premium Roadside Support.

“Hyundai Promise mirrors the experience of buying a brand-new Hyundai by bringing protection and peace of mind to the purchase of high-quality Certified Pre-Owned vehicles, as well as giving customers additional factory warranty and Premium Roadside Support,” Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer Ted Lee said.

As part of the new program Hyundai has established a dedicated online portal that allows customers to search an up-to-date list of vehicle stock availability nationally.

The Hyundai program is like the Toyota Certified Pre-Owned vehicle scheme introduced in 2018, under which vehicles must be less than 10 years old and have fewer than 160,000km on the odometer.
