Outlander’s Aussie tune-up
ICE-powered versions of Mitsubishi’s popular Outlander are set to benefit from a range of upgrades later this year, aimed at retaining the medium SUV’s place among the nation’s best-selling vehicles.

Mitsubishi is among a growing number of brands to recognise the benefits of locally developed suspension tune, with the updated Outlander SUV set to adopt such upgrades when it debuts in Q3.
The Outlander is one of Australia’s most popular SUVs, finishing last year as the country’s fifth-best-selling vehicle thanks to its attractive combination of competitive pricing, generous interior accommodation and efficient drivetrain options.
But one area where the Mitsubishi SUV has been rightly criticised is for its suspension, which varies from overly firm on certain models to overly soft on other, often detracting from an otherwise enjoyable driving experience.
This criticism will be addressed come Q3, when the new MY25 Outlander arrives boasting a range of upgrades for ICE-powered variants, including Australian-specific suspension and steering tunes, and new tyre specification.
Mitsubishi says the changes are aimed at enhancing the Outlander’s steering, ride and handling to provide greater connection for the driver and improved occupant comfort.
The updated ICE-powered Outlanders are expected in dealers in Q3 featuring changes to exterior and interior design, with the former including new alloy wheel designs and the latter a new 12.3-inch infotainment system with premium Yamaha audio, plus wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The top-of-the-line Outlander Exceed Tourer will up the audio ante further with the adoption of a so-called ‘Dynamic Sound Yamaha Ultimate’ audio system, while other grades to receive a ‘Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium’ system.
The Outlander is available with five- or seven-seat interior layout, with front- or all-wheel drive, and a choice of four-cylinder petrol and PHEV engine options.
Mitsubishi has only released details of upgrades for the ICE-powered MY25 variants at this stage, with a spokesperson saying detail on the PHEV range were still being finalised.
The current ICE range kicks off with the entry-level Outlander ES 2WD priced at $37,74090 (MRLP), rising through LS, Aspire, Exceed and range-topping Exceed Tourer at $55,190.
Pricing and specification details for the updated MY25 range have not yet been released but the equipment upgrades suggest there’s likely to be price increases over the current lineup.
