Motoring body introduces report on EV sales
The Australian motoring industry’s peak body has released a zero and low-emission vehicle sales report.
A new Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) report will be released quarterly to update battery electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicle sales over the previous 12 months.
The first report focusing on zero and low-emission vehicle (ZLEV) sales in Australia will also include data on each state and territory.
FCAI Chief Executive Tony Weber said VFACTS data was the premier source of car sales information for motoring industry stakeholders across Australia.
“This report will be vital in revealing the progress of zero and low-emission vehicle penetration into Australia’s light vehicle fleet,” Mr Weber said.
The first report covered ZLEV sales in 2022 and confirmed that Tesla was the dominant brand in that category.

Toyota was an even more dominant player in the hybrid category, with 72,815 sales.
The Japanese car maker filled the first seven places on the top-sellers list, spearheaded by RAV4 (26,547) and Corolla (17,585).
