Volkswagen Group Australia has used the launch of its new ID.Buzz and ID.Buzz Cargo electric vans to announce a package of services designed to break down consumer resistance to EV ownership.

The company’s new On EV ownership package covers existing and new owners of battery electric from all the German car maker’s brands, including Audi, Cupra, Skoda and Volkswagen Passenger and Commercial Vehicles.

A statement from Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) said On EV brought together a package of services and benefits designed to make electric vehicle ownership easy for customers of all its brands.

Features of the new ownership package include access to battery health checks at regular service times, an eight-year battery warranty, flexible financing and lease options, solutions for charging at home and on the road, plus guaranteed future value.

Already Australia’s biggest importer of European vehicles, VGA Australia is gearing up to also be the biggest provider of European electric vehicles, VGA Managing Director Karsten Seifert said.

The company has announced a rapid expansion of its total EV showroom from the current five main model lines to double that by the end of 2025.

The current VGA EV line-up includes the Audi e-tron, Q8 e-tron, Cupra Born, Skoda Enyaq, and just launched Volkswagen ID. Buzz and the ID. Buzz Cargo.

Arriving in 2025 will be Audi’s Q4 e-tron, Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron; Volkswagen’s ID.4 and ID.5 GTX; and the Cupra Tavascan. Also in the pipeline is the Skoda’s Elroq, Volkswagen’s ID.Buzz GTX, and new and updated Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles from Cupra.

Mr Seifert said the new EV ownership package was designed to help remove consumer misgiving around buying an EV.

“While EVs from VGA are priced comparably with our conventional cars and SUVs, there remains much misinformation about the supposed high up-front cost of EV purchase,” he said.

“Value is not simply a question of sticker price; it is about a worry-free, whole-of-ownership experience. On EV provides that.

“We guarantee that your battery will retain at least 70% capacity at the end of the eight-year warranty or 160,000km.”

Working with major Australian partners as JETCharge, ChargeFox, Ampol, Europcar with Volkswagen Financial Services, VGA said On EV would provide solutions for at-home and on-the-road charging, including home charging installation and access to public charging networks within the finance package.

The finance aspect will include Guaranteed Future Value, novated lease options for all VGA EVs, and all-in-one weekly repayments, creating a virtual ‘pay as you go’ means of ownership.

Another feature will be the opportunity to take a month-long test drive of an EV through Europcar, beginning with Cupra’s Born hatchback.

“The best means of overcoming reservations about EVs is to create familiarity, so the On EV experience can commence before purchase,” Mr Seifert said.

VGA Group EV drivers will also be able to secure an EV loan car with a service booking through VGA’s national dealer network.
