A mid-size electrically powered commercial van that doesn’t cost the earth will be music to the ears of corporate fleets grappling with the challenge of lowering their carbon footprint.

Chinese car maker LDV believes it has a solution in the shape of its new eDeliver 7 electric cargo van, which arrives boasting headline grabbing pricing from $59,990 for ABN holders, and 362km of battery electric range.

It’s the fourth model in a wave of new EVs from LDV and joins the eDeliver 9 large van, the eT60 electric ute, and the Mifa 9 electric people mover.

The eDeliver 7 also joins a small but growing fleet of electric commercial rivals that includes the Peugeot e-Partner light van ($59,990, 258km WLTP); the Mercedes eVito Panel Van ($91,051, 260km); and the Ford Transit 420L RWD ($104,990, 295km WLTP).

The eDeliver 7 comes with a choice of body styles and two different battery capacities, with all variants featuring the same 150kW/330Nm electric motor driving the front wheels.

There are four variants: a short wheelbase low roof; long wheelbase low roof model, available with either 77kWh or 88kWh batteries; and a long wheelbase high roof available with an 88kWh battery only.

Pricing with an ABN starts at $59,990 for the 77kWh SWB low roof, rising to $61,990 for the LWB variant, plus on-road costs. The 88kWh LWB low roof variant costs $64,990, rising to $66,990 for the LWB high roof, plus on-roads.

LDV claims the standard 77kWh battery achieves a range of up to 318km (WLTP) on the SWB low roof model and takes approximately 8hrs to charge on an 11kW AC home charger (5–100%), or 43mins to charge from 20–80% on a rapid DC charger.

The extended-range 88kWh battery achieves a range of 362kms (WLTP) on the low roof model and takes about 9.3 hours to charge on an 11kW AC home charger (5–100%), or 43mins via a rapid DC charger.

The design follows the familiar ‘white box on wheels’ approach that is common to the category, aside from a futuristic-looking grille and dusk-sensing LED headlights up front that helps the eDeliver 7 stand out from the crowd.

At the rear are barn doors with two-stage opening function, with a single sliding side door providing side access.

Other standard features include LED rear cargo lighting, non-slip rubber flooring in the load area, a heated steering wheel, fully adjustable driver’s seat (height, slide, recline, lumbar support and driver's armrest), keyless entry-keyless start, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

Cargo volume ranges from 5.9 cubic metres in the short wheelbase low roof, 6.7 cubic metres in the long-wheelbase low roof model and 8.7 cubic metres in the long wheelbase high roof variant. Braked towing capacity is 1,500kg across the range.

Standard safety and driver assistance features include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, front collision warning, emergency lane keep assist, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert.

The eDeliver 7 comes with a five-year/160,000km new car warranty, eight-year/250,000km battery warranty and five-year/unlimited kilometres roadside assistance.

There is also a capped price servicing program which covers scheduled servicing for six -years/ 90,000km and costs $1,166.10.

“We believe the all-new eDeliver 7 is one of the most competitive commercial EVs on the market today,” said LDV General Manager Dinesh Chinnappa.

“The combination of pure electric powertrains with sufficient range for the vast majority of customer requirements, a suite of ADAS features, huge payloads, sharp ABN pricing and capped price servicing all combine to deliver a compelling commercial offering for SMEs and fleet operators committed to greener transport solutions.”
