Outback Queensland’s 2023 Traveller’s Guide will have Aussies packing their bags and hitting the highway for big skies and bigger adventures.

The 2023 Traveller’s Guide showcases 160 ways to experience outback Queensland, unparalleled landscapes, indulgent retreats, world-class events and 29 exciting new experiences.

Spanning 932,678sq.km (two-thirds of the state), outback Queensland has something to offer everyone, from family-friendly dinosaur escapades to adventures fit for the grey nomad.

Outback Queensland Tourism Association CEO Denise Brown launched the 118-page guide which can be downloaded.

“Outback Queensland is renowned for its excellent experiences, which continue to grow each year, providing Australians with even more reasons to visit time and time again,” Ms Brown said.

“Outback Queensland has always been a must-visit destination and with 29 new experiences on offer this year, there has never been a better time to visit.”

Chair of the Outback Queensland Tourism Association and Mayor of the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council Andrew Martin said the region had seen a tourism and economic surge.

“Following the pandemic, we have seen a spike in young Australians eager to get out and explore their own backyard – we welcome you, your vans and your enthusiasm for an adventure to Outback Queensland to see where the real beauty lies,” Mr Martin said.

Outback Queensland spans the north west (Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Richmond and Hughenden), far west (Boulia, Birdsville and Windorah), central west (Winton, Longreach, Barcaldine, Blackall and Tambo), south west (Eromanga, Thargomindah, Quilpie, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Roma and St George) and east (Biloela).
