Head to the big wide-open skies of Hughenden, to rejuvenate your batteries for a weekend of indulgence at the Festival of Outback Skies on 3-5 May.

This festival has such a diverse program you can be as busy or relaxed as you like.

Learn a new skill at one of the many workshops, which include pottery, painting, line dancing, silversmithing, mosaic, drumming and stained glass.

You can start your morning with some yoga by the lake or a champagne breakfast at Mt Walker; watch the thrills and spills of the rodeo and raft race; and dance the night away with the dinner under the stars with a stellar line-up of entertainment.

Finish your weekend by the lake with Queensland Opera, twilight markets and the lantern parade.

Bringing kids? We have plenty on the program for families as well with free lantern-making workshops, lantern parade and Dr Hubbles Bubbles.

Pack a picnic rug to throw down and stash some treats as it also happens to be the best meteor shower of the year. There is no better place to view it than under the outback skies.

With so much to choose from, lucky it’s a long weekend!
