The Queensland Music Festival’s Outback Trail returns this year with an exciting nine-day itinerary including seven events.

The 2024 Outback Trail starts on Saturday, 13 April, in Goondiwindi with an official launch event, Saddle Up, featuring music by homegrown Split Image and rising country pop star Chloe Styler.

Crafted as a self-driving adventure, the trail allows you to build your itinerary and tailor your adventure to your unique preferences while offering great music and outback tourism experiences. 

From soulful folk melodies under the starry skies to foot-stomping country tunes, the trail will feature sounds from a diverse mix of beloved local, Queensland and national musicians, taking over Queensland’s small outback town pubs, main streets, and public spaces.

After Goodiwindi, the trail has stops at:

• Nindigully, 14 April  (The Gully Sessions at Nindigully Pub);

• St George, 15 April, travel day;
• Charlotte Plains, 16 April (Ballads and Bush Yarns, featuring the musical storytelling of Troy Cassar-Daly and Loren Ryan);
• Charleville, 17 April, travel day;
• Quilpie, 18 April (Five-course degustation dinner by celebrity chef Mark Olive and music from William Barton;
• Tambo, 19 April (The Big Bush Dance);
• Charleville, 20 April (Outback Sounds family-friendly music festival featuring Ball Park Music, Paul Dempsey, Pierce Brothers and  more);
• Roma 21 April (Final music event at Western Queensland Spirit  Distillery featuring Mitch King and Roma’s Maddy Thomas).

Discounted tickets offer

Travellers can make the most of the Outback Trail by buying a Trail Traveller Pass, granting access to three events with a 20% discount. 

The Trail Traveller Pass includes entry to the Gully Sessions at Nindigully Pub on 14 April, Ballads & Bush Yarns at Charlotte Plains Station on 16 April and the Outback Sounds music festival in Charleville on 20 April. The Trail Traveller Pass costs $128 for adults and $102 for youth (six to 17).
