1. Choosing the right size: The biggest motorhome may not always the best for your family. Motorhomes come in two to six berths with optional 4WD options – most with kitchenettes, dinettes, and bathrooms – so consider what’s right for your crew.
2. Allowing time: Remember: your goal is to have a good time. A road trip is not a race. Allow time to cover ground and plan to stay at each stop for a few days to break up the driving and explore the delights of your destination. Find a comfortable number of kilometres that you enjoy driving within a day so that you’re not left feeling exhausted.
3. Packing smart: Make a list of essential items such as clothing, toiletries, and medication, and try to pack light. Remember, you can always buy items on the road if you forget something. We always suggest bringing soft bags that aren’t too bulky and can be easily folded up and stowed away.
4. Knowing your limits: Make sure you are familiar with the dimensions of your vehicle and get a feel for it before you hit the highway. Motorhomes take up a lot more space on the road and, while they are just like driving a car, they can take some getting used to. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when parking.
