First founded over 150 years ago on mining and cattle Cloncurry has been home to inventors that have helped shape Australia including the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The John Flynn Place Museum, named after the visionary who began the ‘flying doctor experiment’, is home to the inspiring story of the creation of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Cloncurry Unearthed Visitor Information Centre and Museum celebrates the history of Cloncurry and has all the information you need to enjoy your outback trip. While you gather your information for your outback experience be sure to visit the museum, enjoy the children’s fossicking patch and walk through the original Mary Kathleen Police Station.

Mary Kathleen Mine was once a thriving uranium mining town, now an abandoned site. It offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s mining heritage and the ghost town's eerie remnants. The old pit is now a picturesque location for many visitors with the crystal blue waters an amazing site to see.

The Cloncurry Eco Trail provides a 4.3km paved path through the bushland connecting Cloncurry River and Chinaman Creek Dam. Sitting above it all is the Cloncurry Lookout, which offers panoramic views and a striking water tank mural.
