Roughing it in style
New Kimberley Kampers motorhome promises five-star luxury for off-road adventurers.
Some of the heat may have gone out of the caravan and camping sector in recent months as Australian travellers dust off their passports and head overseas after two years of Covid-induced lockdowns, but the idea of heading off to discover the ‘real Australia’ remains a bucket list item for many.
Australian RV manufacturer Kimberley Kampers has been helping make that dream a reality for Australian adventurers since 1994, and this year celebrates 30 years as one of Australia’s longest-standing luxury RV manufacturers.
The company has marked the occasion with the launch of a new deluxe motorhome, the Kruiswagen which promises to take adventurers off the beaten track in rare style.
Based on a 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 419 LWB van platform, the motorhome is powered by a gutsy new 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine with outputs of 140kW/450Nm, which is claimed to be up to 31% more fuel efficient than previous models.
The engine is paired with the nine-speed Distronic gearbox and a factory AWD system that can deliver a 50:50 power split between front and rear axles for strong offroad performance.
Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane assist, 360-degree surround cameras, with vehicle controls accessed via a 10.5-inch touchscreen.
The Kruiswagen rolls on chunky BFG All Terrain tyres, with the suspension raised by 5cm over standard to further enhance off-road ability, helping ensure adventurers can get to those secluded camping sites.
Inside, the smartly designed cabin features a full-size double bed that retracts automatically into the roof when not in use and window-lined walls for optimal light, airflow and views.
Featuring both indoor and outdoor kitchen facilities, hot and cold water and a full-size shower cubicle with composting toilet, the Kruiswagen marries comfort and capability for a first-class experience.

The 48-volt EcoFlow power hub features lithium batteries powered by an upgraded alternator and rooftop solar system, offering integrated plug-and-play functionality and the ability to remain off-grid for longer.
When connected with the optional Starlink satellite system, Kimberley Kampers says the Kruiswagen can access the internet from anywhere in Australia, ensuring owners can stay in touch with work, family and friends while roaming.
“With its exceptional features and cutting-edge technology, the Kruiswagen is the perfect companion for those who seek the ultimate adventure without compromising comfort and style or sacrificing travel dreams for work,” said the company’s Queensland-based CEO and owner James Cockburn.
The Kruiswagen is available in two trim levels – the Classic priced from $189,063, and the Ecoscape from $238,995 – and can be driven with a standard driver licence.
