Whether it be supporting a local sports club our kids frequent on Saturday mornings, volunteering at a community centre or even making a donation to a charity close to our heart, we all have our own ways to give back.

No matter where you live in Queensland each one of us is connected to our local community and our retail branches at RACQ are no different.

In the past six months, RACQ has donated more than $10,000 to 22 local community groups and clubs across Queensland through its Local Giving program.

Not only are the donations a huge lift for the recipients, they also empower the employees who get to present the cheque and see the effect it can have first-hand.

Member Engagement Manager at RACQ’s Noosa store Cheryl Smith said it was in RACQ’s nature to support the local community and felt grateful to work for a company that offered such a great sponsorship program.

“We at Noosa have a strong belief that we exist for our local members and appreciate the opportunity to give back to some of our local charities and organisations,” Ms Smith said.

“The Local Giving program along with RACQ’s other sponsorship efforts makes us all feel proud to work at RACQ.”

The funding from the Local Giving program may provide a sports club with a new barbecue, new seeds for a community garden or even new equipment to keep a charity ticking along.

Sally-Jo Parcheta, from Katie Rose Cottage Hospice in Noosa, said the $500 it received from RACQ was put towards vital new equipment for patients.

“Thank you to RACQ for their generous donation so Katie Rose Cottage Hospice can continue to provide the very best of care and support to our end-of-life guests, their families, and loved ones,” Ms Parcheta said.

Similarly, the Butterfly Charity Quilts Group were overwhelmed with the support from RACQ to continue their work towards making quilts for those in need.

“We are very grateful to receive this grant from RACQ as it will go towards helping us make quilts for over 200 adults and children this year” a group representative said.

The Blues Union Netball Club also voiced its thanks for the support of RACQ’s Local Giving program.

“A big thank you to Kirsty and the team from RACQ Capalaba branch for granting the club $500 to be used towards new training equipment,” a club spokesperson said.

Thanks to RACQ’s members, our Local Giving grants are able to make a tangible difference to communities across Queensland.
