Mr Burke has been acting in the position for the past few months and has now been permanently appointed to the role following Michelle Winzer’s departure.

RACQ Managing Director and CEO David Carter said Mr Burke brought a wealth of experience having worked across the globe in the finance sector for more than 25 years.

“Barney’s passion and commitment for our members has never been more clear and I know he will continue to lead with determination through the next phase of banking, as we focus on our risk uplift and strategic goals,” he said.

“Barney joined RACQ in 2021 and has been crucial in supporting our Group Finance and Banking executive teams in his role as General Manager Bank Finance and Group Performance.

“It was great to see the bench strength of our internal talent pool and how our succession planning efforts have paid off.

“I look forward to watching the Bank further grow and prosper under his leadership.”

Mr Burke said he was proud to be appointed to this position at a Bank that is dedicated to serving its members and the Queensland community.

“I am truly honoured to be appointed as Chief Executive Banking and to continue building on the incredible reputation and achievements of RACQ Bank,” he said.

“We know it has been a challenging time for many Australians, especially with ongoing cost of living pressures, and RACQ Bank will remain committed to offering exceptional value and service to our members.”
