Bushwalker winched to safety after fall

10 September 2018 RACQ LifeFlight Rescue has performed a dramatic rescue on the Gold Coast after a man fell while bushwalking and abseiling.

The crew was tasked to Mount Barney on Sunday afternoon, when reports came through that the man in his seventies had fallen a short distance while out hiking with friends.

Due to the inaccessible terrain, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue medical team had to be winched down to treat the patient, who had suffered lower limb injuries.

He was then airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Earlier on Sunday the crew airlifted a male patient from North Stradbroke Island after a diving incident.
