Sand boarder wipes out on Fraser Island

A thrill-seeker, injured while sand boarding down a sand dune on Fraser Island, has been airlifted to hospital by an RACQ rescue chopper.

The man, in his 20s, who had travelled down the dune at speed on a body board, crashed at the bottom and injured his back on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was sent to the scene just after 1pm and transported the patient to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
