Cold snap hits the Darling Downs

A chilly weekend ahead for parts of Queensland, including the Darling Downs, has prompted a warning for motorists from RACQ.

Temperatures were expected to shiver to just one degree Celsius in Stanthorpe tonight, four in Warwick and seven degrees in Toowoomba.

RACQ spokesperson Renee Smith said extreme temperatures could impact your car battery. “The cold can make cars harder to start and will quickly show up a battery’s weaknesses,” Ms Smith said.

“If your battery has stopped working, call us on 13 1111.”

Meantime, wild weather had created dangerous conditions for motorists interstate.

Several people had been rescued from flood waters after a wild storm hit Hobart on Thursday night.
