Roads closed for Elton John concert

RACQ has warned Elton John fans attending the event ‘A Day on the Green’ to plan their journey before they left home, with a number of roads around the Mount Cotton area to be closed this weekend.

Club spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said there would be traffic changes on Mount Cotton Road and closures in place on Woodlands Drive, between Taylor Road and Mount Cotton Road on Saturday and Sunday.

“The Yellow Brick Road won’t be closed but several others will be so if you’re planning on driving and parking at the event, please allow extra travel time and pack your patience,” Ms Ritchie said.

“While you might be Still Standing, it’s important you don’t risk getting behind the wheel if you think you might be over the blood alcohol limit at the end of the night.

“If you want to avoid the traffic blues, jump on board one of the shuttle buses departing from the Brisbane CBD, Garden City, Carindale, Capalaba, Eight Mile Plains, Springwood and Logan Hyperdome, but be sure to book ahead to secure your spot.”

Ms Ritchie urged local residents not attending the event to seek an alternate route if possible.

“Before you head off, check RACQ’s Road Conditions website for up to date information on traffic and road closures,” she said.

“It may cause some inconvenience, but we hope you’ll Feel the Love Tonight too.”
