Rolling road closures to hit Townsville
Townsville residents have been warned to plan ahead with rolling road closures set to occur Sunday and Monday as the Queen’s Baton Relay made its way through the city.
RACQ’s Lauren Ritchie said more than 25km of rolling road closures would impact motorists and public transport services.
“Drivers need to plan ahead to ensure they’re not surprised or inconvenienced by these road closures,” Ms Ritchie said.
“In particular, we want people to think about their commute to work Monday morning or their school drop-off run as closures will be happening at this time.”
Ms Ritchie said all road closure information was available online.
“It’s wonderful Townsville gets to share in the celebration of the Commonwealth Games,” she said.
“With a bit of pre-planning, residents can ensure they’re not negatively impacted by this exciting event.
“If you’re free, we encourage you to head along and join in the celebration.”
