Avoid traffic blues - catch public transport to Origin decider

RACQ has urged State of Origin fans heading to Lang Park this afternoon to ditch the car and catch public transport to the game instead.

Club spokesperson Clare Hunter said with thousands of Maroons supporters expected to be at the stadium, there would be limited parking and traffic would be heavy.

“You don’t want to miss the kick off because you’re stuck in traffic or looking for a park,” Ms Hunter said.

“There’s a 15 minute limit for on-street parking in the Lang Park Traffic Area, from 2.30pm until two hours after the end of the event. The last thing you want is to come out after the game and find a massive fine on your windscreen – it would out a dampener on a Maroons victory.

“The best way to get there is by public transport. Your event ticket gives you free travel on all regular Brisbane bus services, event shuttles and trains from four hours before and four hours after the game.”

Ms Hunter also urged those who normally travelled past the stadium during their evening commute to use an alternative route.

“We may be a little out of practice for these events so don’t get caught out,” she said.

“If you need to drive around the Milton area tonight check RACQ’s Road Conditions to plan your trip in advance.”
