Train chaos for Brisbane and Gold Coast commuters
Commuters on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines faced delays of 90 minutes on Thursday morning, after trains were suspended between Ormeau and Kuraby.
An issue with an overhead powerline near Kingston was blamed for the service interruptions.
Queensland Rail tweeted around 8.15am to advise commuters services had resumed northbound between Varsity Lakes and Brisbane Airport but buses would replace trains southbound. However, trains in both directions would again be suspended between 9am and 3pm as crews worked to fix the problem.
The service interruptions resulted in flow on effects, with other train lines now experiencing delays.
Commuters were encouraged to keep an eye on the Queensland Rail Twitter page or call 13 12 30 for updates.
