Will the bus driver strikes ever end?

Commuters will again be affected by further Brisbane bus driver strikes with the Rail, Tram and Bus Union holding a number of stop work meetings over the next week.

TransLink reported some drivers would stop for two hours from tomorrow with Eagle Farm, Willawong, Carina, Sherwood and Toowong depots to be affected in coming days. The union has been negotiating with Brisbane City Council for a number of weeks over pay and safety conditions, resulting in multiple strikes and refusal of fares.

RACQ’s Lauren Ritchie urged commuters to check whether their services would be impacted.

“We’d like to see these issues resolved so our public transport network can get back to where it should be,” Ms Ritchie said.

“Public transport users should expect disruptions and delays because drivers have indicated action will be taken over the next week.

“Commuters should monitor the TransLink website to ensure they have the latest info on service disruptions and plan alternatives in case their services are delayed or cancelled.”
