Go wild at Gondwana

Scenic Rim nature festival program announced.

The official program and tickets for the 2021 Gondwana Festival have been released.

Described as a festival of a different kind, the program of events will be held throughout March in the Gondwana Rainforests of the Scenic Rim.

Whether you prefer week-long wander through World Heritage-listed forests with a hatted-chef dining experience included or a day-time hike to a gorgeous waterfall, the program has something for everyone. 

The festival’s official opening ceremony will take place at the former Binna Burra Lodge site on 1 March with guests seated on 211 carved trunk seats, each representing a thousand hectares of bush impacted by fires in 2019, presented with a moving episodic story of the evolution of this ancient landscape that combines Western and Indigenous knowledges and histories in spoken word, dance and song performed by Indigenous artists.

Major festival events include:

Binna Burra Bushwalking and Rainforest Experiences (2-5 March) 

Experience the magic of the Gondwana Rainforests from Binna Burra with guided walk experiences by ParkTours. These walks will showcase lush rainforests, ancient trees and spectacular views to some serious ecological importance showcasing the Earth’s evolutionary history.

O'Reilly's Autumn Bird Week (7-12 March)

Venture into World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park and surrounds searching for migratory birds in a relaxed experience ideal for beginner bird watchers, combining guided tours and presentations by local experts and O’Reilly’s guides.

Arthur's Trek with ParkTours (14-18 March)

Follow in the footsteps of Arthur Groom, one of Binna Burra’s founders and Australian conservationist, on an exclusive five-day journey from Binna Burra to O’Reilly’s, onto the Lost World Valley and Mt Barney National Park.

Scenic Rim Adventure Festival, Mt Barney (19-21 March)

The Scenic Rim Adventure Festival is a weekend-long festival with all kinds of adventures on offer from climbing south-east Queensland's most impressive peak to photography challenges and kids activities, all while exploring the Gondwana Rainforests. 

Dinner with mountaineer Michael Groom, Mt Barney (19 March)

The Scenic Rim Adventure Festival will kick off with dinner under the stars, featuring special guest Michael Groom, one of the world's greatest big mountain climbers. Michael will share how he climbed Everest over a Scenic Rim produce-inspired dinner.
