Must-do food festival

The countdown is on for the Noosa Food and Wine Festival at the Sunshine Coast.

Foodies clear your schedule - the annual Noosa Food and Wine Festival will return to the Sunshine Coast from 16-20 May with an impressive new line-up of events.

For four-day festival will take place at venues across Noosa, including the Festival Village in Lions Park, Noosa Main Beach, Hastings Street, Noosa Hinterland and some Noosa restaurants.

Festival-goers can enjoy beachfront brunches, dinners with celebrity chefs, live cooking demonstrations, parties under the stars and sample new beers, ciders and wines and artisan products from producers across Australia.

Each day will offer something different – here are the top nine events recommended by Noosa Food and Wine.

Noir Noosa on Hastings Street

Celebrate Moët & Chandon Impérial’s 150th Anniversary under the stars at the new signature event, Noir Noosa. This black-tie gala dinner will be a night to remember, as Hastings Street is transformed into a glamourous, theatrical dinner celebration.

The Underground Collective

Nestled in the foothills of a local Noosa farm, this progressive lunch will have a strong focus on seasonal producers, highlighting in-season root vegetables and ingredients. Curated in collaboration with Wasabi Noosa, nationally-acclaimed chefs Alla Wolf-Tasker, Scott Pickett and Zeb Gilbert will share their love for great producers from both local and across Australia. This event will have plenty of shared feasting and conversations, MC-hosted Q&As as well as captivating book readings and stories from the trio.

Modern Australia

Venture beyond the beaches to the Noosa Hinterland for a truly authentic lunch experience, infused with the unique flavours of the Australian bush. Learn about our Indigenous culture as you forage and dine with a new wave of modern food pioneers – Harvest Newrybar’s Head Chef Alastair Waddell, Resident Forager and pioneer of the Australian Bushfood industry Peter Hardwick, Jaaning Tree’s Clayton Donovan and your host and MC, Orana’s Jock Zonfrillo.

Dinner with Friends

Join Matt Golinski and his friends Alastair McLeod, Glen Barrett and Manu Feildel for a four-course journey celebrating local produce, incredible wine and friendship. Matt, Alastair, Glen and Manu will demonstrate their talents whilst sharing their stories and food passions.

Club Crusoe

For one night only, Rococo Bistro Noosa will bring a Kakadu-meets Cafe del Mar-meets isles of the South Pacific beach party to the shores of Laguna Bay. There'll be DJs and live music, dancing, sublime food, plentiful drink and, of course, coconuts.

Makepeace Republic

Enjoy an afternoon on Makepeace Island feasting on Greek barbecue dishes, sip on island-inspired drinks and dip your toes in the spectacular Makepeace Island pool. This event includes lunch, drinks, a take-home Makepeace Island towel and river transfers.

Generation X

Three of Australia’s finest culinary young guns, Max Sharrad, Jessi McEwan and John Riviera will collaborate for a unique dining event in Ibento, Wasabi's private dining venue. Witness how they challenge the art of creating of fine cuisine with their own personal and contemporary style, while maintaining the perfect equilibrium of taste. Hosted by MC Scott Pickett.

Neil Perry’s Blue Water Grill

The Blue Water Grill – the restaurant that changed how Australians enjoy seafood. Neil Perry rewrote the blueprint for what a seafood restaurant should be with his 1986 restaurant Blue Water Grill in Bondi. Returning to Noosa Food and Wine, he’ll join old friends Katrina Ryan, Peter Kuruvita and Andy Davies at Noosa Beach House Peter Kuruvita, to showcase a retrospective of the restaurant's greatest dishes with matched wines.

Female Talent of our Time

WoHo, Australia’s not-for-profit association which supports Women in Hospitality, is proud to bring you WoHo – Female Talent of our Time, a lunch with matched wines by some of Australia’s leading Women in Hospitality. Enjoy a four-course menu by chefs Christine Manfield, Imogen Czulowski and Alanna Sapwell. This unique event will take place at the award-winning restaurant, Wasabi.
