Update on Ekka from RACQ

Celebrating members and RACQ Foundation.

As part of our RACQ Foundation celebrations and tribute to helping rebuild communities, we had so much planned for you at this year’s Ekka.

It was to be a celebration of our members and RACQ Foundation’s 10th anniversary.

With our members’ support, RACQ Foundation continues to rebuild the heart of our communities hit hard by natural disasters and drought.

Cyclones, drought, fires, floods and now a pandemic – we’ve seen it all. And we know the emotional toll they take on all Queenslanders.

That’s why, every year, we contribute about $1 million to emergency and disaster relief projects, from drought-affected farmers in Kingaroy, to people recovering from cyclones in north Queensland.

RACQ Foundation is always among the first on the ground, rolling up our sleeves, to help communities recover, repair and rebuild.

As part of our celebration of RACQ Foundation at Ekka we had planned something for kids of all ages.

Scale model Mobile Member Centre

Gold Coast Lego brick artist Ben Craig did an amazing job bringing to life a one-third scale model of our Mobile Member Centre.

The MMC is a prime mover and trailer that operates as a mobile RACQ store to support members and their communities around Queensland during emergencies, like natural disasters.

The 5m long replica of the DAF truck and trailer was built using about 65,000 Lego bricks and took about three weeks to assemble.

It was so large you could even have your picture taken in it. Take a look at our time lapse video where it comes to life.

In addition to the scale model MMC truck, you were going to be able to build a section of the Queensland scene surrounding the truck.

With the help of Ben, we were bringing you a little piece of the satisfaction that comes with making a difference to hard-hit communities.

Personalised figures

The Lego fun didn’t stop with the scale-model truck and trailer.

You could also build your very own personalised figure by choosing hair (or hat) torso and legs.

Money raised from sales of the personalised figures was to be contributed to RACQ Foundation.

We look forward to bringing this unique and fun experience to you at Ekka 2022.
