The road trip killer
Don't be left stranded by this common car failure.
Every car owner knows batteries will inevitably fail. Unfortunately for most of us, these common failures will come at the most inopportune times.
So, do yourself a favour and before your next road trip or adventure, book in an RACQ battery check and start it off on the right foot.
RACQ patrols can come to you 24/7 or you can visit one of the 170 battery stockists across Queensland and test your batteries effectiveness and provide a report on its health.
Best of all, if there is an issue, RACQ can replace and install the new battery on the spot, recycle your old one and as a bonus RACQ members save $25 off the purchase price of their new battery.
RACQ Manager Automotive Services Mark Wessling said now is the best time for members to check their batteries as we are coming out of winter and into summer and storm season.
“It’s important to get your battery checked this time of year because batteries don’t like the sudden change in temperature,” he said.
Mr Wessling said just as motorists checked their car tyres before a big trip, so too should they check their battery.
“No one wants to be stranded on the side of the road changing a tyre or waiting on a battery replacement.”
“You want to make sure you’re ready to go and car is ready to go with you.”
Mr Wessling said a few common signs your battery might need a check-up is if your car is slow starting or sounding a little off.
“Normally when you turn the key it ticks over really quickly,” he said.
“But, if you start the car and it gets a bit of a stutter, that’s a sign it’s probably time to get this checked.
“Also, if you have left the lights on or used a lot of accessories make sure to get the battery checked. As batteries get older they don’t recover as long as they should.”
If you’re stuck, or want a battery checked, call us on 13 1905. Our RACQ Patrol network can get to most areas of Queensland usually within the hour, and the great news for RACQ members with roadside assistance is delivery and installation is included.
