Who you gonna call?

Motoring advice is a phone call away.

Are you looking for advice about buying, owning, selling, maintaining or repairing a vehicle in Queensland?

RACQ’s team of motoring experts provides free advice from 8am – 5pm, Monday - Friday to help with member’s motoring enquiries.

Whether it’s a warranty issue, a repair quote that seems high, an unusual motoring situation or general servicing advice, help is at hand.

RACQ Head of Technical and Safety Policy Steve Spalding said from October to December 2019 the Motoring Advice Service team received more than 3200 calls from members.

The calls covered a range of topics including motoring/tech advice around safety, fuel, towing, and child restraints (58%), advice around buying and selling a vehicle (23%) and information on RACQ products and services (17%).

“Motoring Advice is a one-stop-shop for all motoring enquiries,” Mr Spalding said.

“It’s also a great asset for younger drivers as we can put them in touch with an RACQ approved driving school, help them with logbook questions and assist with choosing a safe first car.”

Mr Spalding said the service, which has been around for decades, originated in the early days of RACQ.

“As long as people own vehicles there will always be a space for people with technical or motoring questions,” he said.

“The Motoring Advice Service team are specialised people with an industry background or skill set that can help answer a wide range of motoring and consumer issues.

“It’s an incredibly valuable and unique tool for members who can ring up and put any motoring enquiry to us including car regulation questions and we will do our best to answer or take it on notice and come back to them.”

Mr Spalding said by using the service RACQ members could save themselves a lot of grief.

“If you’re buying a car or you have a question about an unusual occurrence or noise in your car, give our staff a call, and they will help,” he said.

“With the car buying process, we explain the importance of doing your homework when choosing a car plus give some tips on keeping a level head to protect themselves.

“Buying a car is a big decision and is often stressful, so you need to cover off on all the important steps before handing over your money.”
