The Gold Coast Bulletin reported Federal Cities Minister Alan Tudge cited the $709 million Broadbeach to Burleigh extension as one project which could be brought forward amid fears of a significant economic downturn in the face of coronavirus.

Head of Public Policy Rebecca Michael urged Government’s to accelerate planning and funding commitments to a number of priority projects, including the second M1.

“Delivering a new Centenary Highway Bridge, the Coomera Connector, the Gateway Motorway Upgrade from the Bruce Highway to Deagon and Stage 2 of the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade from Oxley to Darra are also priorities,” Dr Michael said.

“Planning or business case development is underway, but funding is still needed before construction can begin on these projects.

“Infrastructure upgrades can have significant impact on the economy by creating more jobs.”
