RACQ remains here for you during Brisbane lockdown
RACQ Acting CEO Glenn Toms said the Club had taken a number of measures to help ensure staff and members stayed safe.
“Our retail stores, roadside assistance, towing and incident response teams will continue to operate within in the Greater Brisbane area, with the highest levels of PPE, social distancing and cleaning practices implemented to keep our people and members safe,” Mr Toms said.
“This will ensure we can attend to stranded members on the roadside and deliver banking services from our stores. It’s important to note though, that whilst we can tow vehicles within the Greater Brisbane area, we are unable to tow vehicles into or out of the designated Greater Brisbane area, whilst these restrictions remain in place.
“To reduce the risk of transmission, our Autoglass replacement stores in Brisbane will close, however are available to service any emergency glass replacement needs. Our vehicle inspection services will close and we will send our remaining office-based staff to work from home.
“We will also be standing down our insurance builders and tradespeople working in the Greater Brisbane region. Where emergency insurance repairs are required, we’ll complete these works.”
Mr Toms assured members while things would be operating differently over the next three days, help was still available for those who needed it.
“This situation continues to evolve, but our members can rest assured we’re doing whatever we can to ensure we maintain our essential services from the side of the road, to meeting their banking needs, or processing an unexpected insurance claim,” he said.
“Our contact centres remain open to take calls from our members and staff are well-prepared having worked from home for much of last year.”
Mr Toms urged members to stay home and to stay safe.
“Only go out if you have to and if you’re an essential worker, are shopping, exercising, or are caring for a vulnerable person,” he said.
“If you don’t need to be out on the roads then the message is – don’t be. Let’s all do what we can to help stop the spread of this virus.”
