RACQ wins 2023 Corporate Philanthropist of the Year award
RACQ has been recognised for its outstanding community work, being awarded the 2023 Corporate Philanthropist of the Year by the Queensland Community Foundation.
The recognition was made possible by RACQ partner, Drought Angels, who nominated the Club for assisting members and communities recover from natural disasters, and helping make Queensland more resilient in the future.
Natasha Johnston from Drought Angels submitted the nomination on RACQ’s behalf having worked with the RACQ Foundation since 2011 to help communities recover from severe weather events.
Welcoming the award, RACQ CEO David Carter said as Queensland’s largest Club with more than 1.7 million members, we lead by example, committing $8.7 million to community groups and charities in FY22 and it will be a similar amount this financial year.
This included RACQ’s ongoing donations to the State’s Air Rescue Network, ensuring the helicopters maintained their crucial service, flying close to 3,000 missions across Queensland and assisting more than 6,500 sick and injured patients.
In the same year, RACQ employees volunteered 4,560 hours to charities, community organisations and events.
“We exist to make a positive difference to the lives of our members and their communities now and into the future and we aim to do that each and every day,” Mr Carter said.
“This award is not only about giving back – it’s central to our strategy to drive social impact and improve road safety, climate resilience and support an inclusive transition to a low-carbon future.
“Our work in the community is part of our DNA and why people want to be RACQ members. It’s who RACQ is and always will be.”
