Honda confirms Super-One EV pricing
The tiny electrically powered Honda Super-One hatch became one of the most hyped new models of 2026 after making its appearance at last year’s Japan Mobility Show, and it’s now officially available to order for a sub-$40,000 driveaway price.
Honda Australia confirmed that pricing was locked in and pre-orders officially open for the pint-sized power ranger, with deliveries set to commence at the start of October for what will be the brand’s first fully electric model.
The Super-One will be available in two grades with pricing starting at $36,900 (driveaway) for the entry-level variant, while the mechanically identical upper-grade Two-Tone variant gains a special Violet Boost exterior colour with blackout roof at a cost of $37,400 (driveaway).
Honda Australia’s confirmation last year that it would add the niche model to its lineup came as a surprise following the car’s reveal, but the carmaker says it has since had a groundswell of interest from Australian drivers, with more than 6,500 Expressions of Interest (EOI) sign-ups.
However, with less than 130 units of the diminutive Super-One available for delivery in 2026 before more supply lands in early 2027, buyers will need to quick with the plastic to get their hands on one of the first batch.
Based on the Japanese-market N-One – which is designed to compete in Japan’s ultra-competitive Kei car category with its strict regulations on size, engine capacity, and power output – the Super-One measures less than 3,600mm long, 1,600mm wide, and is just 1,550mm high, making it particularly agile and easy to park in tight city streets.
Its boxy, retro styling – reportedly inspired by the 1980’s Honda City Turbo II – lends it striking kerb appeal with a wide stance, pumped-out wheel arches, roof spoiler, and black wheels adding plenty of attitude to the feisty pocket.
Bucking the trend for EVs to be punishingly heavy, the Super-One weighs a relatively svelte 1,093kg and promises driving thrills to match its racy looks courtesy of selectable drive modes including a Boost mode which lifts power from a modest 47kW to 70kW with 162Nm of torque.
Boost mode also adds a simulated seven-speed transmission that mimics the shift feel of a traditional gearbox, and an Active Sound Control system that plays a synthesised, engine-like soundtrack through the cabin.
A 29.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers a single front-drive electric motor, while the regenerative braking system enables one-pedal driving mode and helps the pocket-rocket achieve a range of up to 253km. Honda quotes a DC charging time from 15% to 80% of 30 minutes.
While there are few direct battery-electric competitors in the micro-car class, the nuggety battery-electric hatch will no doubt be cross-shopped against other small EVs including the BYD Atto 1 priced from $23,990 to $27,990 (MRLP), Geely EX2 priced from $26,490 to $30,990 (MRLP), GAC Aion UT from $31,990 to $35,990 (MRLP), and Hyundai Inster from $39,000 to $45,000 (MRLP).
