Nissan Patrol Nismo revealed as high-performance 4x4
New Nissan Patrol Nismo flexes GT-R muscle and bold design in Middle East debut but will it be available in Australia?

What is the Nissan Patrol Nismo and why should I care?
The beefed-up Patrol takes the concept of a high-performance 4x4 wagon to the next level, with a specially tuned twin-turbo V6, optimised aerodynamics, retuned suspension, a more pronounced exhaust note, and new styling cues.
Based on the seventh-generation Y63 Nissan Patrol, which is already on sale in the Middle East and USA but not due here until late 2026, the Nismo version adds extra muscle, pace and aggression to the beefy 4x4’s repertoire.
Enhancements to the Patrol’s twin turbocharged 3.5-litre petrol V6 have Boosted power and torque to a supercar-like 369kW/700Nm, outmuscling the 227kW/700Nm on offer from the LandCruiser’s 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine.
The high-performance engine is sourced from Nissan’s GT-R sports car, but retuned for its application in the 2,800kg 4x4 wagon.
The Nismo engine is identified by a distinctive red engine cover and commemorative metal plate that marks each V6 as having been assembled at Nissan’s famed Iwaki Plant in Japan.
It's paired with a recalibrated nine-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters, to ensure instant response and potent performance.
Design that dominates: Nismo styling inside and out
A new bumper design unique to the Nismo variant channels cool air directly to the brakes to reduce disc temperatures during high-performance driving, while at the rear layered air diffusers optimise aerodynamics, enhancing high-speed stability.
Other design enhancements include a revised V-Motion grille with three-dimensional honeycomb mesh that is claimed to optimise airflow to the radiator, and side air curtains that divide airflow and create vortices to help pull air from inside the wheel wells, reducing lift and increasing downforce.
At the rear, an extended spoiler aids aerodynamic performance in combination with rear side air splitters, layered air diffusers, and air outlets for greater rear downforce and improved grip.
Nismo-red exterior accents highlight the Patrol’s performance potential, while inside the cabin there’s a striking black-and-red colour scheme, with contrast stitching on the dashboard, seats, steering wheel, and doors.
The interior surfaces feature a tasteful mix of materials including precision-cut metallic elements, genuine leather and soft-touch suede.
The sport-style front buckets seats are claimed to offer exceptional support, during spirited driving and come clad with a distinctive honeycomb quilting pattern that mirrors the exterior grille mesh.
Signature Nismo logos are embroidered into the seat headrests, with other sporty touches including red seat belts, a red start-stop engine button, faux carbon fibre surfaces, and aluminium accelerator and brake pedals.
The exhaust system has had the Nismo treatment, too, allegedly delivering a deep, resonant note that amplifies the vehicle’s performance character, while inside the cabin, Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) enriches this sound profile.
Patrol Nismo built for performance
Under its hulking frame the Patrol Nismo features recalibrated suspension including Nismo-tuned electronic dampers, and a retuned electronic power steering system for enhanced responsiveness and stability.
The hulking 4x4 rides on track-inspired 22-inch forged aluminium alloy wheels, co-developed with Japanese performance wheel specialist Rays.
Featuring a unique nine-spoke layout, the wheels are claimed to be 23% lighter than those fitted to the base model Patrol, while offering improved structural rigidity, lateral stiffness and brake cooling efficiency.
Paired with performance-oriented 275/50R22 Bridgestone Alenza tyres and specifically tuned suspension and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system, Nissan claims the Patrol Nismo delivers exceptional high-speed stability and cornering capability.
Is the Patrol Nismo coming to Australia? Here’s what we know
The all-new high-performance Patrol Nismo will be available throughout the Middle East from July 2025 and has also been confirmed for sale in the US as the Armada Nismo, but there’s no word when or even if this souped-up variant of the seventh-generation Patrol 4x4 will make it here.
Australia has already been confirmed as the first right-hand drive market for the base Y63 Patrol, but it looks like potential buyers of the Nismo variant may have to wait until late 2026 when the order book opening for the standard Y63 to see if the Nismo-enhanced beast is also on the menu.
