Big changes for RACQ Roadside Assistance

Road Trip

Whether you break down when riding your e-scooter to work or driving your RV on holiday, RACQ Roadside Assistance is ready to come to your rescue.

RACQ has launched a suite of new Roadside Assistance products covering everything from e-scooters, e-bikes and mobility scooters through to motorbikes and larger vehicles up to 8 tonne, including RVs.

Chief Executive Assistance Glenn Toms said the new products offering was the biggest change in RACQ Roadside Assistance since the early 1920s when patrol officers first came to the rescue of motorists.

“We have the state's largest Roadside Assistance network of more than 830 vehicles providing 24/7 support to our members from Cape York to the New South Wales border,” Mr Toms said.

“Our members often call on us to change flat tyres, restart vehicles or even rescue a child from a locked car.

“While we will still be providing the same reliable, trusted service for our members, we’ll now be able to help even more Queenslanders through our offering that responds to the way people are moving today and wanting to move tomorrow.

Mr Toms said RACQ was the first in the country to offer this full range of products.

“Due to a combination of worsening traffic congestion, cost-of-living pressures and a changing attitude towards more sustainable ways of living, we’ve seen more people using electric personal mobility devices like e-scooters and e-bikes.

“That’s why we’ve launched our first-ever micro-mobility product RACQ Everyday Lite.

“This new product also addresses a gap in the market for members that rely on mobility aids such as wheelchairs and mobility scooters to remain mobile.”

At the other end of the scale, the new product covering larger utes and RVs responds to Queenslanders' desire to hit the road and explore their own backyard.

“Since Covid, we’ve seen a real explosion in camper trailers and motorhomes as members get out with their families and explore Queensland,” Mr Toms said.

“Our Roadside Assistance offering for RV owners will mean travellers can have greater peace of mind knowing we’re able to come to their aid if anything was to go wrong on their holiday.”
