100 years of roadside stories
We’ve been helping Queenslanders get back on the road for a century and you’ve shared some incredible stories to celebrate. From flat tyres to emergency rescues, these moments capture what it means to be there when it counts.
When my car broke down on the way to work, and then my Dad came to pick me up and his car broke down. RACQ came to the rescue and saved both of the cars, what a day!

Heading home from the groceries on an inclement night,
I saw, on the dashboard, a strange flashing light.
I had kids in the car, it was dark, and what's more:
The drizzle had turned into a massive downpour!
We pulled over promptly to survey the scene,
""Tyre pressure warning!"" What did that mean?
So I got straight in touch with the trustiest source,
And arriving soon after was a mechanical force!
Equipped with a raincoat, torch and a smile,
Mr RACQ Man changed our tyre in style.
The whole saga was over as quick as a wink,
And I still wish I'd offered this hero a drink!

Broke down on the way to work, luckily stopped at the lights near a major Brisbane thoroughfare. Called the RACQ. He worked out my battery had failed and charged it to get me moving. He noticed fluid under the car. Did the sniff test, transmission fluid. Thank goodness for his perception, could have been disasterous to both the car and safety. Called for a tow to my mechanic. Advised sometime in the next 2 hours, was only around 20 minutes and the driver called advising he was on the way. Thank goodness for the RACQ. That one call made up for the numerous years I had it but didn't need it. Reasurrance that they are there when needed is awesome!

When travelling home from Airlie Beach with our boat in tow we blew a tyre. Hubby stopped and changed it and off we went again only for a few minutes as later we blew the second trye. We called RACQ and they arrived within the hour and towed us to a town and we got two new tyres fitted and on our way again.

Recently my son in law from America was visiting and he desperately wanted to have a genuine Aussie country pub meal. I thought he and I could go in my 1980 VW microbus. After the 30 minute drive to the township of Goombungee, I noticed the kombi's blinkers wouldn't flash and the fuel gauge showed empty on a full tank. I told Ric we would have to skip the lunch and that we should high tail it back home. 5 km from home, we almost made it, the kombi started to misfire and then die. I called RACQ and they sent a tilt tray truck. We were home in no time. I profusely apologised to Ric but he wouldn't hear it.. He had the time of his life, such an adventure. He couldn't believe how quick and smooth it all was. He said in the US you would be on hold on the phone for an hour before any help could be sent. We are so lucky here. When Ric next visits we'll go in the kombi again and it's my shout for a genuine Aussie pub meal at Goombungee. P.S the alternator had died and the battery went flat as we drove.

My daughter and I had a breakdown on the side of the motorway in Bunya on our way back to Brisbane from Noosa. It was raining and it was Labour Day. My daughter felt car sick already as the car keeps shaking and yet RACQ comes to the rescue in a quickest time to save us. Thank you RACQ

Stranded in stilettos, on a rural dirt track—my GPS thought I was a goat. Car coughed, sighed, then quit entirely. No shade, no water, and a very curious cow watching my meltdown. Just when I considered fashioning a flare from lip gloss, RACQ turned up like a knight in high-vis. He didn’t just rescue my car, he complimented my shoes and jump-started my faith in humanity. Ten minutes later, I was back on the road, heels and all.

My car battery failed one night out west, miles from anywhere. I rang RACQ and the guy drove at least 60 kilometres to get to me and then, when he could not start it, towed me back to the nearest town and arranged accommodation for me. On my way the next day at no cost. He could not have been more helpful as I was pretty upset at my car breaking down and stranded. Talk about RACQ service, would not be without it!

A few years ago my trusty old Ford ZD Fairlane decided not to go once I reached the traffic lights on this very busy intersection. It would not move with traffic banking up behind and not many helpful motorists wanting to chance their luck and give me a push the the other side of the road. Luckily it was early days of mobile phones so a call was made to the RACQ and after a very short wait the patrol in yellow arrived and a big relief came over me help at last. Thanks guys it was a blessing!

In 1997, my old Datsun 180B broke down outside a backpackers, steam pouring from a busted hose. Stranded, I called RACQ. A mechanic arrived quickly, fixed it with ease, and sent me on my way. Years later, at the beach, our car battery died as the sunset and my son grew restless. Again, RACQ came through. A friendly mechanic replaced the battery in minutes, turning a stressful moment into relief. Both times, their fast, skilled help felt like a lifeline. From backpacker travels to beach days, RACQ’s got your back.

One day I was driving myself and a work colleague to work. Ipswich was experiencing some terrible torrential rain and the roads in Swanbank were becoming a mess. With the limited visibility from the rain I hit a massive pothole hard and knew the outcome was likely a flat tyre. I pulled up about 500 metres up the road to check the damage, and it was apparent a bunch of other people had also hit the pothole and had also pulled up on the same piece of road. Luckily there was a couple of RACQ Roadside vehicles working so quickly to change my tyre to the spare and to all the other people in the same predicament. I even managed to get to work on time with how quick the RACQ patrol team were!! Thank you so much!

Flat battery on the Great Ocean Road,
Sun baking down, nowhere to go.
Phone’s dead, no help in sight,
I’m stuck in the Aussie heat—what a plight!
Along came RACQ, like a true blue mate,
With a smile and jumper cables, never late.
“G’day, no worries, we’ll get you right,”
In no time at all, they sparked up the light.
The engine roared, I breathed relief,
No more stranded, no more grief.
With a wave and a laugh, they were off in a flash,
Thanks to RACQ, my trip wasn’t trash!
Out here where the gum trees sway,
Good mates like RACQ save the day.
Flat battery? No need to stress,
Without them, I’d be in a mess!

We moved to Roma when our children were aged 3 to 7 years old. Roma is a lovely outback town but it was very flat. Both of us originally from hilly cities on the coast, we craved a good hill. We found a Lookout on the road to Carnarvon Gorge that was said to have a spectacular lookout. It is called Lonesome Lookout.
From Roma, we headed north on the Carnarvon Highway. North of Injune, we turned right onto Arcadia Valley Access Road. In time a sign pointed to the lookout We saw no other traffic on this road.
This high lookout had wonderful views up along the Arcadia Valley and across the Dawson River to the amazing Expedition National Park's sandstone escarpment. What a view! The parking area was rocky. When we got back to our car, the battery would not turn! Oh no! This was a very isolated place. It was by now getting late in the afternoon. What to do? My husband had to phone the garage at Injune which was an RACQ agent, thank goodness. The RACQ agent jump started our car. My Dad had made me join the RACQ when I was 17, thank goodness!

It was the mid-90s, and I was halfway across the Gateway Bridge when my car coughed, spluttered, and died—out of petrol. No mobile phones back then, just a long walk ahead. I locked the car and started the hot, noisy trek along the bridge to the emergency phone box. Traffic roared past as I nervously explained my situation to the operator. Within 30 minutes, a bright yellow RACQ ute pulled up beside my stranded car. The patrolman smiled, poured in enough fuel to get me moving, and followed me to the nearest servo to be sure I was alright. I’ll never forget the relief and how calm and friendly he was. RACQ truly came to the rescue when I needed it most

Travelling with 4 children and a dog, caravan bearings busted and drum brakes were getting chewed out. Called RACQ at Ord River rest stop and got it towed to Halls Creek. RACQ was so calming and helpful. Stayed in our van while the mechanic came to us and fixed it, all organised by RACQ over the phone from WA. So grateful for being with them.

My story is probably quite ordinary but I once ran out of petrol only 100 metres from home. I was young and new to driving at the time. It is the most common story for help that there is I guess. I was rescued by the experts at the time! Thank you for being there.

A journey through Mount Glorious so I could roll the windows down and enjoy the lush landscapes and fresh air was stalled when my brakes started to feel lousy just as I started the descent to Samford. I certainly wasn't confident to continue, so pulled up in a well placed turn out bay. The shiny new RACQ tow truck arrived and navigated the tight spot very well. A cruisy ride down the hill and a mate waiting for me at the other end. Thanks RACQ! It's those reflections on 'what if...' that really fuel my gratitude for this service. I wouldn't be without roadside assistance for me or my family.

A few years ago I was supervising my daughter learning to drive her own Ford Focus manual hatchback which was going very well. She had completed around an hour of driving (on this particular day) around our nearby streets from where we lived and parked the car. We were about a couple of kilometres from home when I took over the driving. I went to approach a nearby intersection and the steering gave way in the car. After putting the handbrake on and turning the ignition off, we both walked over to the safety of the nature strip. Luckily as a Gold member of RACQ I immediately called for Roadside assistance. After a short wait time an RACQ tow truck driver arrived and towed the Ford Focus to our nearest Ford dealership for repair. This assistance was very helpful and appreciated in a very stressful situation.

I was on the road, it was a dark & lonely road. My car started to very low temperature, the light on the dash started flashing. I pulled over & rang RACQ. I was on a stopping lane, it was pitch black. The lady on the switch board, told me to move in a lit up area. So I drove to a MacDonald & waited. The man came quickly but couldn't find anything wrong. They were both very caring. The lady stayed with me on the phone until help arrived.

The RACQ have been absolute angels over the last 12-18 months with not one but up to 3 vehicles at this household needing help.
Myself like others tend to pick up lots of screws/nails/flat batteries/car won't start etc. etc. over a period of time and due to me just having knee surgery, wife having neck/shoulder surgery, future son in law with disabilities so the fact of changing a tyre was all beyond us.
Thank God the Yellow Gods of the road always turned up. Always fixed up within 10 mins and also ask if we needed anything else checked to make sure our cars where road worthy.
It pays to belong, not all superhero's wear capes.
Thank You Heroes :):):)

Interstate travel and breakdown near Grafton NSW. Call diverted to NRMA, position identified, serice van identified issue and despite all garages full, arranged tow to Performance Motor Grafton. Issue identified, driven to motel and part ordered, picked up on on the road again. Superb customer service and exceptional service owner who advised best dining, breakfast and walking experience whilst we waited. So good that RACQ gold members are looked after Australia wide! Very grateful to have my Membership.

We broke down in Victoria. Being interstate RACV worked in with RACQ via a conference call. We had our van and 4x4 towed to a caravan park. Our car was then towed to a repair shop where a week later it was repaired and we continued our holiday. Even interstate RACQ had us covered.

Peak hour traffic Friday afternoon. Crossing the Captain Cook bridge in the middle lane into the city. My (not so) trusty VW Kombi died. A desperate call to RACQ as the traffic piled up behind me. What a relief to see the yellow saviour pull up, quickly organise a tow truck which saved my embarrassment and the general angst of other commuters. Thanks RACQ.

My vehicle's dash recently went blank for an instant and the car would not start after an autostop at a somewhat dangerous T-intersection. Unbelievably, an RACQ tow truck was directly behind me. The friendly RACQ technician put on his hazard lights as traffic began to bank up behind his truck, and showed me how to get the vehicle out of 'park' and helped me push the vehicle off the road to safety before I used the RACQ APP for further assistance. A big thankyou to the RACQ driver who helped me out of a dangerous situation.

About 1992, after a long day of driving, about 4:45pm in Kilcoy, my car stopped; immediately outside the RACQ depot (where it then was in Hope St). The carbon brush in the alternator had failed.

Blowing a tyre on the highway was pretty much my worst nightmare. I’m not the most confident driver.
My daughter was approved for a promising new medication and I was driving her to her appointment when it happened. I’d run over a tiny piece of metal and there, in the middle lane of the Ipswich motorway, my back tyre blew. Fortunately we made it to the shoulder of the road without an accident. RACQ realised the dangerous place our car was stuck and sent a tow truck within 15 minutes to rescue us. He dropped both us and our car home, with time to spare to make her appointment. I feel more confident now on the roads because of everything that happened that day.

A few years back I had to pick up my teenage son from work and went out in my PJs. Picked him up and dropped him off. Outside my ex's place my car decided it was time to breakdown. Embarrassed and I had to start work early the next morning I called RACQ. 30 minutes later sitting in my PJs I dont know who was more embarrassed. I didn't want to get out of my car and thank goodness the serviceman was understanding . Fixed my car and off I went. Thank you RACQ.

I was flying to Townsville from Wellcamp near Toowoomba when I stopped briefly on my way at a shopping centre in Toowoomba, I came back and the car wouldn’t start, I rang RACQ and they sent a guy to help, I rang back to ask how long he’d be as I had an hour to catch the plane including 1/2 hour drive to wellcamp. He arrived, replaced the battery, excellent service and I made the flight with 10 minutes to spare!

I was driving home from work on a Saturday night when I heard a big noise come from my engine and the check engine light came on. My engine quickly started heating up so I pulled over and called RACQ Roadside Assistance. They said it might be up to 2 hours but they came in about 40mins. I was stuck on the side of the road very close to traffic. As the tow man was putting my car on the trailer a car drove by and took out the trucks side mirror.

Glen the RACQ man from Gracemere is totally awesome. He has “ saved” me more than once. He is happy to answer questions at any time, I've never had to wait long before he arrives. First time we used his service, we broke down about 14 kms west of Mt Morgan. Towing the van. A wonderful current soldier drove me back to Mt Morgan. No phone service there. Glen came just after I got back with the Ute. I didn’t know he could have towed the van. Towed Nissan back to Mt Morgan. Nothing is too much trouble.

I bought a lemon. It broke down six times in the first two months with varying issues.
By now, the RACQ guy and I were on a first name basis. Always with a smile and a helping hand. The last time was in the middle of an overpass, very busy, very scary. My knight in shining armour arrived within five minutes. I literally hugged him. I put us both out of our misery and sold the car for scrap.

We’d just set off on our first family road trip—car packed to the brim, spirits high—when the dreaded clunk-thump hit. Flat tyre. Middle of nowhere. No signal. Two toddlers melting down faster than our ice cream. Just as panic peaked, that glorious yellow truck rolled into view like a knight in high-vis armour.
The RACQ patrolman arrived with a grin, a calm presence. While he swiftly changed the tyre, he cracked jokes, shared travel tips, and somehow made the whole ordeal feel like part of the adventure. Within 30 minutes, we were back on the road—laughing, grateful, and feeling genuinely cared for.
That “yellow truck feeling” isn’t just relief—it’s a reminder that no matter how off-track you feel, someone’s got your back. RACQ turned our roadside disaster into a memory we now fondly retell.

I’m a long time member and have been helped many times by RACQ breakdown services so I decided to get car insurance as well as contents insurance . I received a really great price on both new insurances.
When I broke down recently I had quick response and then a tow truck was ordered, I was taken to the repairer I chose and was only out of pocket slightly as it was a longer distance.

It happened last Saturday while working in the suburbs. My car failed to start up, that gloom and doom set in. I felt lost and scared, but so blessed and lucky am I to be with RACQ. I made a quick phone call and within 30 minutes the team had come to my rescue. They are the most efficient, prompt company in Australia to be with. The team member assured me I had a flat battery. My battery was replaced within the hour and I was back on the road. The RACQ are the best, I would never be without them!

Several years ago, my youngest son and I were travelling over the Gateway Bridge to Brisbane at night when smoke started to come out the engine of our car. I crept over the bridge and pulled to the edge of the highway. I was able to ring the RACQ and they took my son and I home. Luckily my son and I were able to sit in the cabin with the driver and our car was loaded on the truck. So relieved to be delivered safely home again.

My story goes back to when I needed roadside, but didn’t have it.
I drove an old Pulsar which decided it didn’t want to turn over one afternoon. After calling RACQ as a naive 21-year-old without roadside assistance, I was signed up on the spot with help on the way.
Out came the knight in golden yellow armour. Not only did he get it started, but he also explained the problem. An alternator nearing its final days. He could sense I was fresh out of uni with little income to spend on replacing the part immediately. So, he took the time to show me a little trick to get it working if it were to happen again. Evidently, it came in handy. Many, many times!
I’ve been a member ever since. Thank you RACQ!

After we buried my 99 year old Mum, we were about to head to her wake but my car would not start at the cemetery. Some of the mourners were able to push start it and I got it home. A tow truck towed it to a mechanic who could find nothing wrong with it. Months later, I was wearing the same outfit I wore to my Mum's funeral and thinking about my Mum. Once again, the car would not start. RACQ to the rescue this time. Was an intermittent starter motor problem which the mechanic finally fixed.

I will never ever forget this experience. I recently purchased a new MG3. Had an appt at dentist, bit early so popped across the road to the shop, got in car and wouldn't start, no power, dead...called RACQ, lovely guy came out within 10 mins, checked all, he got in the car, and noticed that i had locked my steering wheel...omg, I could have died of embarrassment, got to dentist on time and we all had a good laugh

Parked at Robina Town Centre. Came out, car wouldn’t start. Tried everything—buttons, prayers, yelling. Called RACQ. He checks the battery, the fob, the wiring—then pauses. “Is this even your car?” We both look up. I was standing next to a very similar car, but mine was two bays over. Unlocked and fine. I blamed the escalators.

I locked my keys & dog in the car during summer in an underground very hot car park. After calling RACQ they came to the rescue but first helped by suggesting to use a hose to wet the car down to drop the temperature in the car. After arriving they unlocked the car & opened the rear hatch to see my dog so chilled, she didn’t even want to get out. To top off the already great service they had a bottle of water ready for the dog as well.
It made for a good Social media story on her Insta & Facebook profiles 😁👍

After helping my sister moving half way up the state it was time for me and my trusty Ute and trailer to head back down to brissy, entranced in the music I was jamming to and the fact that I was unfamiliar to the area I missed the big sign that said next servo 80km, about 40km later my Ute began to splutter and I slowly and gracefully rolled to a stop on the side of the highway, I called racq and with 1/2 an hour I was back on the road following my yellow saviour to the next servo! Couldn’t thank him enough!!

Last week my car stopped in a very busy dangerous round about in Noosaville. Fortunately for me a wonderful man driving behind me got out of his vehicle, leaving it in a precarious position and manually pushed the car to a safe area. I rang the RACQ who attended in a short time, it turned out I needed a tow truck. Both the RACQ guys were fantastic and caring. I couldn't be more appreciative of them. The truck took me to the Auto Electrics who had my car back on the road the next morning. Also while waiting for the first responder three other people offered to help just about bringing me to tears. All the bad things we read about, there are some amazing helpful people out there. I will certainly keep up my Gold membership with the RACQ.

After finishing work one afternoon, I returned to my car in the multi-story car park only to find it completely unresponsive, the battery had died. Stuck on an upper level with no way to move my car, I called RACQ Roadside Assistance. They were incredibly helpful from the start, reassuring me over the phone and arriving within 30 minutes. The technician quickly assessed the situation and jump-started my car with ease, all while navigating the tight, awkward space of the car park. He also checked the battery’s health and gave me tips to prevent it from happening again. Thanks to RACQ, I was back on the road without stress. Their quick, professional service turned a frustrating end to my workday into a surprisingly smooth experience.

My car battery carked it the morning of my mate’s wedding on the Sunshine Coast—of course it did. Panic mode activated. But like a knight in yellow armor, RACQ swooped in, revived the old girl, and got me back on the road. I made it just in time, looking only mildly flustered, and ended up having an absolute belter of a time. Champagne flowed, vows were exchanged, and I tore up the dance floor like my battery never died. Moral of the story? Never doubt RACQ—and always pack deodorant for emergency sweat situations!

Stuck on the side of the road with a flat tyre in a very awkward place. We were just coming into Narrabri in the old LandCruiser ute, hooked to our Jayco pop top caravan. Several years ago, I was in the shower & I could hear someone yelling for help, slipping on a pair of shorts rushed outside & realized the shouts coming from the nearby river. Jumped into my car & drove to a bridge & realized the shouts were coming from under the bridge, looking over the railing there was a man sitting in the drivers side window, With his car under the water stuck against a pilon, luckily a tow truck came past & we were able to pull him up on the hook, (30 mts) his car was washed away down river, took him home, hot shower & dry clothes & run him home. RACQ has come to the rescue of my 1969 Fiat 500 quite a few times in the 47 years I've been a member... most memorable was when the car wouldn't start in an underground car park. There was a very strong, strange smell coming from the front of the car (where fuel tank and battery are located!) so I decided just to wait for the patrol with everything switched off. Turned out my small vinyl tool pouch had somehow come loose and fallen on top of the battery - with the spanner inside landing neatly across the terminals - and shorting the battery! Definitely the weirdest 'breakdown' I've ever had. Patrolman took it all in his stride (after the "whoa!" moment) and I was soon back on the road - thanks!

I had been through a very difficult relationship breakup when my brand new car broke down in the middle of a busy road in peak hour. I was so traumatised by everything that I just got out of the car and was running up and down the road crying. George the RACQ tow truck driver came to my rescue and towed the car. I was in the towtruck for about 40 mins sobbing and crying and telling George my lifestory. Not only did the poor man have a job to do but he also became a counsellor that day. I will never forget his care and compassion!

In the middle of nowhere our car broke down,
My hubby had to hitchhike to town,
While I kept the kids entertained,
With a battery that was drained.

While we invented games to play,

My hubby had to hitchhike to town,
While I kept the kids entertained,
With a battery that was drained.
The RACQ were on the way!
While we invented games to play,
The tow truck arrived, hooray!
The best part of the kids' holiday!

The most memorable of all my rescue tales
Was the time we broke down on our way to New South Wales,
Right close to the boarder on went the check engine light
We had a ways to go so driving more wouldn’t be alright
RACQ to the rescue, they towed our car back home
We swapped over vehicles ready once more to roam
It could have been much worse as it was our journey doubled
But the driver was so friendly, for him it was no trouble

Back in 2012, after finishing a grueling 10-hour shift at work, I was utterly exhausted. To my dismay, I discovered that I had accidentally left my car keys in the ignition and locked the car. Panic set in momentarily, but I quickly remembered that I could call RACQ for assistance. They responded promptly and efficiently unlocked the door, saving the day.

My car's temperature escalated when I was on the highway. I saw smoke rise from my bonnet. I knew I need to pull over when safe to do so, thankfully I could. Racq were absolutely amazing, towing my car to my mechanic, taking me safely in the truck. The driver was beyond kind and considerate(it can be scary being a girl when things go wrong!)
The best part of the kids' holiday!

We were driving out of Toowoomba for a wedding. The car suddenly stopped half way up a hill. Tension was high. It was my husband's first gig officiating a wedding and time was of the essence. The little yellow vehicle arrived with the verdict being the timing belt. It got towed back to Toowoomba for repairs. We got a lift to the wedding with another guest. The couple are still happily married.

Have been a member since 1961 and never had to use the breakdown system however some time back the car was dead had no power at all .So made myfirst call with in 10 minutes the van turn up and your man knew what was wrong. (the cable from the gear box to the selector was loose) jacked the car up replaced the fitting --cost $50.00 ) and we were back on the road again. This service alone has made the membership worth while. I do buy the battery every 3 or 4 years from the racq but I do not consider this to be a breakdown service . Very happy to be a member

It’s not easy to avoid malfunctions, but it is so easy to get out of sticky situations with roadside assist. Ever since Dad got his new car five years ago, I nagged at him to keep a copy of the RACQ Roadside Assistance phone number somewhere handy. Being a boomer who has lost his boing, Dad didn’t listen. Last week, when Dad was at the local supermarket, he called me in a panic. Oh no, his car wouldn’t start! Within five minutes of me ending the call, the yellow truck was to the rescue. Fast, friendly service even Dad can use. Now he takes my advice and has put the roadside assist number into his phone and glove box. Dad the boomer can bounce right back when there’s a little car mishap. Now I can finally leave home knowing Dad is in good hands with RACQ.

Driving back from a weekend in Roma, a kangaroo darted out of nowhere and sent me swerving straight into a pothole — blown tyre, bent rim, and me stuck roadside as dusk settled in. With trucks thundering past and phone signal fading, I managed to get one bar long enough to contact RACQ. A patrol showed up faster than I thought possible. He quickly changed the tyre, checked for damage, and even rigged a temporary fix so I could safely finish the drive home. I was rattled, tired, and a little teary, but he stayed calm, kind, and reassuring the whole time. That level of care and service out on a lonely highway made me feel incredibly grateful and safe.

After a long day hiking in Lamington National Park, I returned to my car only to find the battery completely flat — no signal, no jump leads, and the car park slowly emptying. I was facing a cold night in the bush with no way home. Thankfully, the last couple to leave offered to drive into range and call RACQ. I expected a long wait, but a patrol arrived within 40 minutes, smiling and ready to help. Not only did he jump-start the car, but he checked the battery’s health, gave advice on avoiding future issues, and even recommended a great local café for the drive home. It turned what could have been a nightmare into a genuinely heartwarming experience. I’ll never forget that moment of unexpected kindness and professionalism when I needed it most.

Stranded in the middle of nowhere on a scorching Queensland summer day, my old ute decided it had had enough—steam pouring from the bonnet and no mobile reception. I had my two kids in the back, a boot full of groceries rapidly defrosting, and no idea what to do next. I flagged down a kind stranger who drove several kilometres to call RACQ for me. Within the hour, a roadside patrol arrived like a knight in shining high-vis. Not only did he cool the engine and get us going, but he also gave the kids icy poles from his esky to cheer them up. We made it home safe, with our groceries (and tempers) intact. That day reminded me that it’s not just a service—it’s a lifeline when you need it most.

A few years ago, my son and partner drove our old family veranda which was over 20 years old to an outdoor climbing area at Boonah. On their way home from a huge day climbing the Verada decided it didn’t want to go any further. It just stopped. My son and partner hopped out of the car and called RACQ assist to tow the car to a wrecker. They waved goodbye to our family Verada for the final time. They then hiked to a train station and went home with a sigh in their hearts and a huge smile on their face with all the many memories of the car, where it had driven and lived and the people and animals it had ferried around for the past 20+ years.

On a sunday afternoon, we arrive back in brisbane airport from an enjoyable holiday with the wife and kids. The kids are all strapped in and are starving, of course. We crank the engine over, well no we didnt. It was then we realised the kids had fiddled with the interior lights and we had a very flat battery. Emotions were running high and we were all tired. Racq jumpstart to the rescue and we were on our way in no time. Crisis averted, thanks RACQ!

I accidentally put unleaded petrol into my diesel ute, at a place called 3 ways in far western qld. The nearest RACQ was at Cloncurry qld, a 3 hour drive from where I was stranded with a van. We were flat bedded with van in tow back to Cloncurry we were taken to the caravan park RACQ paid for the night. The RACQ bloke drained and flushed my tank and gave the ute a wash to boot. The ute was returned later that afternoon, ready for us to continue our trip. Thanks, RACQ.

After erratic engine and loss of power before failing to start in Tolga I had my first ever tow in 50 years. The camper went on the back of an RACQ truck down the Gillies to my mechanic, then later to Cairns RACQ workshop which was exceptional service once again. It is well worth having Ultimate coverage for peace of mind and the benefits it provides. As a member of 50 years I have always been grateful with the security of help just a phonecall away.

Called for assistance 22/11/24 Bundaberg - car wouldn't start. In a very short time Doug arrived, reassured me that it was not a major engine issue, merely a dead battery. Within no time at all I was back on the road and haven't had any car trouble since. Doug was respectful and courteous - no doubt a valued team member!!!

I once had my car keys stolen while at football training and had to call RACQ roadside to help me unlock my car. They came quickly and the patrol who arrived was reassuring and calm, which made the whole experience a lot less stressful!

I had just flown back from Sydney to Brisbane airport. My tyre was flat as in the Brisbane airport of all places. The guy who came out was wonderful. He fixed my tyre up for me after calming me down. I'm a single mum of 10 kids and was away working. I couldn't believe he took the time to care enough to sit there and make sure I was ok. Absolutely amazing job he did making sure I got home to my kids ok. Will never change from RACQ ever. Can't thank him enough.

RACQ. I went out for a drive as happy as can be, Then a noisy pulling wheel began to worry me. The front puncture caused me great despair. Called the RACQ to change it to a spare. Hey, hey, the RACQ is a wondrous service, Holds folk together if they're feeling nervous. It may be a puncture or a semi flat. Those friendly people can deal with that. Sitting in the traffic, waiting for the light, Someone crashed into my car; did I get a fright. No need to blow my top or to feel distress. Called the RACQ to fix up the mess. Hey, hey, the RACQ is a wondrous thing. Think of the happiness those clever people bring. You may run into a pole or even hit a gate. Call the RACQ to handle all that, mate.

My old lemon of a car broke down at the ‘big orange’ when on holiday. RACQ rescued us with a tow and hire car, turning lemons into lemonade.

I have only called roadside service twice to fit a new battery, they were very prompt and it is good to have the knowledge that RACQ is always there.
