Best Family Wagon

Citroën Grand C4 Picasso

A diverse bunch of vehicles are competing against each other in this newly-named category. It’s a great snapshot of how varied the average family unit has become and how the family wagon has changed and developed to meet their transport needs.

In the battle for top honours, the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso just edged out the Honda Odyssey VTi-L.

Not everyone is going to need seven seats all the time and that sums up the difference between the winner and the runner up. The Citroën outscored the Odyssey in Value for Money and On the Road.

The Citroën’s 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, with 110kW of power and 370Nm of engine torque matched to a conventional six-speed automatic transmission, delivers better performance, especially out on the highway (where the Odyssey is not as adept) along with a perfect 10 for fuel consumption and environment. A six-year warranty quells any ‘European car reliability’ concerns.

Citroën’s target is families with children up to 12 years and the packaging and size make it a perfect choice for that market.

Indicative Drive Away Price: $48,122
