If it's safe to do so, you can follow the steps below:
-

In the event of a flood or storm, follow government-issued advice or call the SES on 132 500 if you require emergency assistance. For useful information on what to do before, during and after a storm please visit our storm safety help pages.
-
Document any damaged, lost or stolen property
Take photos of any affected areas, including the building structure and contents; be sure to itemise anything you wish to claim. If you’ve been a victim of theft, follow police direction on when you should access the impacted areas and be careful not to touch anything while you document any missing items.
-
Record key information
Note down the date, time and location of the incident, along with any witnesses' contact details.
How to make a claim
Lodging a claim online is quick and easy. You don’t need to do it at the scene, but the sooner you can share details with us after the incident, the better.
