Frequently asked questions

Under your RACQ Comprehensive Car Insurance policy, we cover your vehicle for loss or damage caused by an incident that happens during the period of insurance if your vehicle is damaged by a storm, hail or flood.

Please read your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and applicable Supplementary PDS, and log into your My RACQ profile to view your Certificate of Insurance. These documents will tell you what events and damages you are covered for, your insured amounts, any limits, conditions and excesses that apply.

Depending on your insurance product, there are several ways to easily make a claim. Go to our How to make a claim page for instructions.

Our friendly claims staff will walk you through the process and help you get back on track. Every situation is different so don’t hesitate to give us a call if you have questions about your claim.

You can add a hire car as an optional extra to your RACQ Comprehensive motor insurance policy. After an insured event you can get a hire car for up to 14 days, at (up to) $40 a day if you have added this optional extra to your policy. Silver, Gold and Gold 50 RACQ members who hold Roadside Assistance receive this benefit at no extra cost.

We pay the reasonable costs of towing and storage (up to $100 a day) of your vehicle after an accident or theft for up to 30 days.

As a younger driver, you have less experience than other drivers on the road. Statistically, you are at a greater risk of having an accident. You may be liable to pay an additional excess on top of your policy’s basic excess. This additional excess, if applicable, will be listed on your quote as well as your Certificate of Insurance if you purchase the policy.
