Give your caravan a clever nickname

Many caravanners like to give their rig a name to personalise it and add character.

There may not be a registry for caravan names, but that doesn’t stop many caravan owners from giving their vans a nickname. Picking a distinctive nickname ensures your van is recognisable on the road.

The name you choose for your caravan could refer to an experience had while travelling in it, be a nod to its history (maybe the previous owner’s name), a combination of your own names, a family joke, a clever pun, your travel motto or your family’s outlook. Here are some ideas for clever caravan names.

  • Spending Our Kids’ Inheritance.

  • The Granny Flat.

  • Midlife Crisis.

  • The Rolling Palace.

  • We Come From a Van Down Under.

  • The Last Resort.

  • Never Going Home.

  • No Address.

  • Happy Campers.

  • The Long Haul.

  • Peripheral Vision.

How to display your caravan’s name

There are a few options for showing off your caravan’s cool nickname. An easy and relatively affordable option is to order a customised cover for your spare tyre with the name on it.

  • You could paint the name directly on your caravan. If you’re artistic, you could even do this yourself, but make sure to use the appropriate type of paint for your caravan’s exterior.

  • You can buy customised vinyl stickers or decals. If ordering stickers, make sure the adhesive is suitable for use on caravans and won’t damage the paintwork. You’ll also want it to be durable and water-resistant, since the sticker will be exposed to the elements.

  • If you’re totally committed to your caravan’s new nickname, you could even order personalised number plates with part or all of the name.
