Movie producers have long been creating films about road trips, many of which continue to inspire, entertain and reveal the truths about what can happen on the open road.
Here are some classic road trip movies you should watch.
Easy Rider (1969)
Two young bikers, Wyatt and Billy, drive from LA to New Orleans in search of a way to lead their own lives. On their road trip they encounter a variety of obstacles.

The Blues Brothers (1980)
After being released from prison, Jake Blues visits the nuns who raised him and his brother at their old boarding school. The pair discover that the school will be sold to the education authority unless they can find a way to pay the $5000 tax on the property within 11 days. The Blues Brothers make it their mission to help and decide to put their blues band back together to raise the money.

National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983)
The Griswold family – Clark, his wife Ellen, daughter Audrey and son Rusty – decide to spend their summer holiday driving cross-country from Chicago to Walley World on the West Coast. Everything goes wrong along the way, but Clark does everything he can to provide his family the best vacation ever.

Thelma & Louise (1991)
Two best friends set out on an adventure to escape their normal life. Their journey quickly turns into a disaster when they run into trouble with the authorities, but along the way they rediscover the strength of their friendship and personalities in trying times.

Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
Seven-year-old Olive Hoover discovers that she qualified for the Little Miss Sunshine contest and convinces the entire family to set off in their camper van for the trip from Albuquerque to California. The family face some bad luck along the way but do everything they can to get Olive to the pageant.

Into the Wild (2007)
Based on a true story. After graduating from University, Christopher McCandless bravely sets out, alone, to find himself. Along his journey he meets a variety of interesting people who end up shaping his life and help him move on from his past and enjoy the wonders of the world again.

Due Date (2010)
High-strung father-to-be Peter Highman is flying home to Los Angeles for the imminent birth of his first child. Unfortunately, flying home is no longer an option and Peter is forced to hitch a ride with actor Ethan Tremblay on a road trip to make it home in time. It may be the most agonizing trip of his life.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)
All Neal Page wants to do is get home for Thanksgiving. His flight is cancelled and he’s forced to share a cab with a clumsy and talkative salesman Del Griffith all the way to Chicago. Despite their differences they soon become good friends.
